Tumble media as never before

I have the Frankford Arsenal wet tumbler. With the stainless steel pins, a little Dawn, and Lemi Shine, the brass gets really clean. Even the primer pockets get really clean. The only negative I have found is it beats the bevel off of the case mouth and I have to bevel the case mouth again.

I got the Frankford SS from Amazon the other day, ($147 free shipping) and was really amazed at how clean the cases come out. I had used the standard media for years but, finally started looking at the SS tumblers when I got a hold of a bucket full of once fired, range pickup .223 cases. The old walnut media just wouldn't clean them. It was child's play for the Frankford SS.

If you mean you're seeing your nicely chamfered neck mouths getting peened, try using fewer cases or adding more stainless media, along with running a batch for less time. A higher volume of media to brass reduces impact peening of the brass.

I run my Thumbler's B for 30 minutes max., 150-200 308 cases to five pounds of media.

Yes, and be sure to fill the drum with water. I shoot one at a time and keep the empties on a clean towel, so my brass comes home from the range clean. I lube, deprime, neck size, and body size before tumbling. I soak the brass in Simple Green and rinse the lanolin based lube with boiling water before I tumble. That seems to help pre-clean the brass so the tumbling time can be reduced; therefore, reducing damage to the neck edges.

Hey sheep, go for it! If you get in the 21st Century and check over SS media, you will see that beside the outside, it also cleans the primer pockets and the inside of your case. Your cleaning method makes your brass kinda nice outside, but is still nasty inside. I have my first batch of 5lbs of SS media and I have cleaned over 2500 cases. I do not need any extra SS media yet.

The real irony is a guy named lamb-ert calling people sheep. :D
