Tula Primers

Went to reloading store today and they had 1000 Small rifle tula primers for 23.00 I hope I didn't get ripped off. I was surprised to see Varget and any RL you wanted and the VV powders. Man the N150 was 42.00 a pound I just couldn't pull the trigger on some to try out.

Anywho Ive read good things about the Tula and Wolf primers so I figured I would try them out.

Can't go wrong with Tula. It's pretty much all I use. IMO it yields the most consistent mild flash which for me yields a low ES. Your price was good and if you find some Tula LR primers better snap them up. Haven't seen those in about a year. Eric in DL

$23.00 is about right for 1K of Tula/Wolf, 5K runs about $90-$115 depending where you get them.

been using these for two years and also in LR variant No issues and now that they have been "discovered" you can't find them or people are asking too much for them

I shot some BR-2's (25 rounds) and Tula LR primers (25 rounds) over the chronograph using exactly the same powder charge and bullets. (.308)

The BR-2 primed rounds averaged 2715 fps with an SD of 23.6 fps. The Tula primed rounds averaged 2750 fps with an SD of 9.8 fps.

When the BR-2's are gone it will be strictly Tula LR's for me. When comparing prices the Tula's are 40% less than the cost of the BR-2's which BTW, don't perform any better than the regular CCI LR primers with my loads and rifles.

I got similar results while comparing rounds over the chrono with my .223, with the Tula .223 primers out performing the BR-4's.

Phil has Tula LRMs @ Proneshooter.com

I've tested KVB7s (the LR) and the LRMs and see no difference that I can attest too. The LRMs actually shot a little tighter at 600 than the KVB7s. The last 5000 I shot were LRMs and the last 5000 I bought are LRMs.
