TSA Question

Guys,
Saturday I am going hunting in Wyoming. I have a large Tuffpac.
Can I pack my ammo and gun in the same piece of luggage?

Chuck

most airlines require that the ammo be in a "factory" type container and you are limited by weight as to how much you can take

Thanks 280 man,

I shipped most of my ammo to a friend in Denver. I will only have 100 rounds of ammo in my luggage.

Chuck

Check with the airline you'll be flying with now.
Then call them back the week before you leave to verify the first response.

The last time I flew,to B.C.) I packed two, 20 rd. slip top MTM cartridge boxes, together with the gun, in the hard gun case. No problems with 4 plane changes or customs.

But then things could be different tomorrow.

Hi Al....I travel in the USA frequently with my target rifles and always have the ammo in the case with the guns!!! There is a 5kg,11 lb.) limit on the ammount of ammo that you are allowed to transport...that shuld be plenty for a hunter...I can just barely keep it under with 300 rds of 6mm BR,with a 107gr bullet)...usually with two target rifles and ammo in my "heavy duty" gun case it weighs 65-70 lb. and costs $$$ extra for being overweight!!!! ....but as far as problems with the TSA or the airline ...there have been none...
As reccomended ...call ahead...but the folks you talk to on the phone are usually "clueless" ...the TSA floks are very professional....Hope U get a full curl!!...Roger

Good Luck....they may not weigh it...??? but they will notice the ammount of ammo and a flag will "pop up"---
The ammount is limited,11 lb.) so that somoene can not carry enuff ammo to start a war with!!! Most hunting involves maby ..one shot ...and a few to chek the gun when u arive...
I know several people who take the empty primed brass with the gun..the bullets, just the projectile) in the luggage...and buy powder there and load em....just take a arbor press and seater die in your luggage also...that shuld leave room for one clean pair of socks !!! It is strange times we are livin in...but good times...Roger
PS...you outa see me with my rifle rest and rear bag in my luggage.......barely room for clothes...

Roger,
I sent all of our ammo except 100 rounds of .223 to put in my luggage. We sent 5000 rounds by UPS to a buddy in Denver.

Trip before last we took 9400 rounds and had to buy more for the last day. Ain't AR's great..
