Trouble headspacing off of shoulder verses belt on my Magnum cases

@dellet
Good on you for suggesting this idea. Over the years I have read many threads on this subject on many different sites dealing with reloading. Never once did I ever read of this suggestion. In fact I had this very same problem with my 270 Weatherby mag, and purchased a IT collet die. All along the solution was right on my loading bench in my 300 Win mag die box. Again good on you.

Here are your choices...

1. Use new brass.

2. Set the headspace of the current rifle to near ZERO and size the brass as far as it will go, hoping your sizing die can reach right above the belt enough.

And avoid military 300winmag brass... Mk 248 mod 1 military load is a EXTREMELY HOT LOAD and the leftover brass is just about junk after the first firing. Probably get 1 more reload from it, but I wouldn't waste my time.
