Trip to the local outdoor store.

A shoot-n buddy and i had a day of just messing around
We went out had a big delicious breakfast at a little restaurant..you know what im talk-n bout. The kind you enjoy the rest of the day.
Then we some how ended up at the gun club shooting 22lr @ 100yrs in 32° windy cold weather.
When we couldnt feel out fingers (about 30 rd. later) hahaha..we packed up and went to the hunting, fishing, gun shop in our area.
My buddy bought some ammo ididnt buy one damn thing.
I left that store completely astounded at the prices
Since when does a 1lb can of powder cost 78$
A can of reloader 15 was 90$.
Fishing rods nothing special 100$ (just the rod)
A tin of 177 pellets 27$.
This place was packed and people seemed to be spending like its buisness as usual.
What an im missing? Have wages gone up additional 30$ per hr for every one but me..hahaha.
My buddy bought 2 boxs of hornady 308win
3 box of 100 cci 22lr ( different kinds)
It was 178$..hahaha..i just looked at him and thought no way is he gonna pay for that..and he did..on the way to the truck he asked if i cought the total i said yep!, he said i guess were not going back there.
this place use to have the best prices in town now its like every place else.

A great day out relaxing and messing around ruined once again by the problems of our country.
I have to add ive been living in a cabin since February 28th..so coming out of a forest into this mess is a real eye opener.
I am thoroughly convinced the less dependency i have on our society the better off i am.
Its like soon as you step out of the house the world is begging to feed off you like some virus, in need of a host.
Its gotten pretty bad or maybe its just me.
But when you step out of the rat race, and then look at it from the outside in.
You see it for what it is.
Something i absolutely no longer want any part of. Ill keep my money and stop buying stuff , ill even go with out just out of principle, before i hand over my hard earned cash out of foolish greed.
Now before you start trying to slam my opinion and post, remember the sad fact is the only ones who are fighting to justify rediculous prices are the folks ripping people off...if you raise prices in a store, did you raise your employees pay equally ( bahahaha yeah right!)
Any one else relating to this?
What are you doing not to let this situation destroy your positive daily mental attitude?
Is it even possible?
I had to let that out ..i know..i KNOW many of you are thinking and feeling the same as i am.

This is a result of the mergers of many former firearm accessory manufacturers into one conglomerate (one being Vista Outdoors). Also a result of the current generation paying outlandish prices. Also a result of people designating theirselves as ultimate experts in youtube videos. The conglomerates are also trying to eliminate buying in bulk by creating tons of assembled ammo in popular calibers.

I feel this way about many different things price wise. Main thing around me is housing. I have 3 kids i worrie about being able to afford a place to live. My oldest and her boyfriend are doing it but its not right. Luckily he has a decent pay job. At the current pricing they can not even afford a house. There stuck in a apartment at $1,800 a month for a not too bad place. Want a nicer place? Then ur looking at $2,300 and up

The price of everything is way up. The inflation caused by all the government spending ( printing money) makes our money worth less.
Also there are at least two wars going on now .I am surprised we can get any powder or primers.

We can not move to a different place because the prices have doubled in our area. Our daughter will have a very hard time being able to buy a house.

Great line... And thanks to the Internet one does not even need to leave the house.

Once ' they' smell blood (active email, working phone number, people search profile, Zillow stats) grab your wallet.

My life is basically work and home. Church, bible study and matches\gun club are the only other things I do. I an very out of touch. I went with my wife yesterday shopping. I had her drop me at Harbor Freight. When she picked me up I think she was surprised how little I had. She asked if I didn't see anything I wanted. I told her yes but way to expensive for me. Like I said, I guess I'm just out of touch with the way things have become.

Been looking at lightly used F250s 2017 and up. I understand the market sets the price but I'm not paying that. I'll drive my crap. I only buy components when they are on sale with free shipping if I can swing it. I want to support my LGS but I just can't give away money. A small difference, sure.

Yep this is me exactly. Harbor freight if I have a coupon. My wife does most of the shopping for all household items so I get sticker shock when I go get groceries with her

I buy bulk on line. I buy when I can, not wait till I need. Plan ahead. Don't wait till your out if you want to enjoy shooting.

This thread hits home as I was browsing one of my lifelong favorite mom & pop gun shops earlier this week and was mind blown when I saw $72.50 on a lb of R15…. Then there was the $2100 Model 70 super grade…. It was nice but it wasn’t $2100 nice….

Thank goodness I had no need…

Then again I bet there are ppl who say my gunsmithing and machine work is too expensive.

One day I may make $100 per hour but when a loaf of bread costs $15, eggs $15, box of Mac&cheese $5, gallon of milk 15 and a pound of powder is $250 well you get the picture.

I enjoy building my own rifles but it ain't no cheap hobby. You buy go gauge, reamer, decent barrel, upgraded trigger, an action (and that can be all over the place) and a nice middle of the road stock and now you are just shy of 3000.00 and you haven't even started the machining and assembly. Farther more, you are
likely never to recover your cost. It's a bit disheartening.

I’m as unhappy about the high prices as the next guy (being recently retired and on a tight budget). But every time I see one of these threads, I’m thinking… where have you been for the last few years or decade?
The price to play has been going up up up, as is the price to live.
Two choices - buy or do with out.
Just another guy’s opinion.

Yep, I am astounded at the prices. Going out to eat is silly expensive. I am a scrounger. Every family trying to feed kids should learn to make a pot of beans. I make them once a week. I have a pot of Limas cooking right now. One of my hobbies is buying good kitchen knives for less than two dollars. I clean them up, sharpen them real good and give them to my friends, as needed. A friend of mine taught me that when you give a knife, you must get some money in return or it is very bad luck for the friendship. I generally get a quarter or a dollar bill if that is all they have!

what do you think some of the best years are for 150s? I am in the same position.

Honestly don't know on which if we're looking at the past 10 years and only can base on friends and coworkers. For me I live in a rust prone area and on a northerly side so I'd look hard at an aluminum body hence me looking at '17 up f250 w/6.2. As much as I love the power of the Ecoboost, I'd probably look for a 5.0 truck or the older N/A V6 that is generally bulletproof.

Good thing I cant stand the newer trucks, I will drive till I kill them a 94 S10 4WD Blazer, 96 F250 Power Stroke 4WD (this coming year will need a step stool to get in it LOL) and a 2004 2500 Silverado HD 4WD

All -

Howdy !

Hey....maybe w/ a Republican president, we might see people step back a bit, from the mass-hysteria buying ( hoarding ) of reloading components that started w/ Clinton, worsened severely when Obama was running; and was pretty much accepted reality when they ran Biden ?

Couldn't hurt

You are right, for myself I will go and look at the local outdoor retail store. 99.99% of the time if it is not on sale I probably don't need it right then and can order it online much cheaper.

Just my .02 as well.
