Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30x56 Review

Thanks for the review. I’ve had my eye on this one. I bought a 4.5-30 Bushnell two years ago. It’s a bit dark. Stiff power ring, worse when cold. Both well known issues. But the big disapointment was the focus being off when set parallax free. Nice to see a thorough review before I buy.

Totally agree. I had that same exact Bushnell scope years ago. Same exact issues as well. 30x isn't even useable when parallax is dialed out. Image starts getting dark around 22-24x. Sold it for cheap and never looked back.

I also have Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical scope and an old Bushnell 4200 6-24x40 with AO. Both great scopes made in Japan. But the Bushnell 4.5-30x50 Tactical/6500 version is no good in my opinion. The Trijicon 4.5-30 is on a whole 'nother planet compared to the Bushnell 4.5-30

I have a pair of the old Bushnell 4-16x50AO, great scopes. Do you have any experience with the old Bushnell 8-32x40AO? I'm concerned it will have the same darkness issues above 24x.

No I don't. Just the 6-24 AO, 4200 series and 6-24x50 Tactical. I'm sure an 8-32 would be fine. I have an old Japanese Tasco 8-32x40 AO scope that does good on 32x. I also have Japanese Tasco 6-24x40 AO scopes and the Bushnell 6-24 matches them optically, maybe even a hair better resolution on the Bushnell. So I'm sure the old Bushnell 8-32 AO scopes would be just as good

Nice write up I love my Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30X56 I have on my Vudoo 22 I have shoot out too 200 yards with it and can see my bullet holes just fine in my shoot and see targets.

Finally got the chance to use the 4.5-30x Trijicon for some shooting past 100 yards today. I was doing some load development for my 300 Norma Improved at 500 yards.

To my surprise, I could see my bullet holes in the white on 30x !!! I knew the glass was good, but didn't expect to see my 30 cal bullet holes at 500 yards. My father in law was looking through my Swarovski ATX spotting scope on 100x (1.7x mag extender installed) and I could see the holes in the paper before he called them out. Very impressed with this scope

Still have some work to do, but this rifle is showing promise. Wind and sparatic rain was a pain in the ass to deal with today. Will tune this load further and test it with 5 shots when conditions calm down.

This is a 3 shot group at 500 yards. Could easily see the holes with the Trijicon on 30x.

Not sure. I dont have any plans on ever purchasing a NF scope because by all accounts I've heard from friends and shooting colleagues, their customer service has been really bad of late.

Honestly, the ATACR probably has the same glass. Theres only a few high end ED glass manufacturers in Japan for sport optics. You basically have LOW, Kowa, and Nikon. Kowa and Nikon make their own stuf and LOW makes glass, components, and even full scopes for other companies to re-badge.

I really appreciate your thorough review on the 4.5-30x! I am interested in the 5-50x model. what are your thoughts on it? I hope that it would be as good as the 4.5-30. Have you or anyone you know looked through the 5-50?

I like my 5-50x...it's purdy.

Still haven't shot any groups with it yet.

Yeah I wish they offered that reticle in the 4.5-30x model. I really like floating dot reticles.

Yeah the Delta was a nice scope. Absolutely loved the reticle. The side focus was just a little too touchy for me at long range. Trijicon did a much better job on the focus for LR shooting. I like the turrets on the Trijicon better as well.

How do you like the glass on the 5-50x56 Triji?

I love the glass on my 5-50x
But I'm probably not the best reviewer, since this is only the second scope that I've owned in the $1500-$2000 range
The glass is very clear to the edges
It does NOT get milky/cloudy at the higher magnification
I have NOT done a box test with it.
I have (3) Sightron SIIIs, and (1) Burris XTR II 8-40
So that's the only thing I have to compare it to currently.
I had a NF 5.5-22x with the MOAR reticle. I liked the glass but the reticle was too thick for my liking, so I sold it.

Also 34mm tube, 25 MOA per revolution turrets, nice glass etched reticle with MOA subtensions and a floating center dot, and made in Japan with ED glass. Will be a couple weeks before I get the chance to compare it against the mighty Trijicon, but I'm really hoping the new Crimson Trace optics do well. They are very reasonably priced for the feature set.

This will be a new venture for me as the reticle is in the First Focal Plane which is the only available option for all the Crimson Trace scopes. Hoping I will learn to like it. If I do like it, then adding FFP reticle scopes to the list when looking for a new purchase will greatly enhance my options.

Looking forward to it. I like the specs and price point of that optic. Kinda like my SIII 6-24x50 FFP, but with a bigger tube, bigger objective & a better looking (& illuminated) reticle.

I hope that reticle is a pic of the lowest power. If not, those small hash marks will disappear. Having said that, for me, the reticle is too busy.

I'm sorry, I don't get the elevation hashes. It says moa, is the picture in mil? I really like a floating dot. I like the Sightron moa2 but it would be nice to have small hash every moa.
