Trijicon Accupoint '22 updated opinions sought

I see discussions pertaining to this line are not common or quite old. I was looking at these in the 2.5-10 or 2.5-12.5 range. I like the illumination being non reliant on battery, and the fact that for it's magnification range it's not outrageously heavy. I'd like opinions from users on quality and low light performance (not just the illumination). Uses would be for a hunting rifle out to 400 yards. Has anyone used the triangle post reticle in a long range hunting application? Is it a hindrance, or an aid?

I’ve used the triangle post in an older 3-9 trijicon shooting deer and it worked well but my shots were 20YDs on the close and only 125 for the longest shot.
I do like the the tip with an open top and I’d say it would work fine at longer ranges.
My only gripe with trijicon for hunting is no type of rain coating, I hunt in the rain and snow, I tried a NF NX8 and it was a mess also when wet.

I can only remember Bushnell making a big deal about Rainguard coatings. I honestly have never checked other brands for similar.

A few brands have rain coating now. I was sold on the coating ever since I tried a Bushnell on a hunting shotgun.
I’m using a Zeiss V8 now. some leupolds also have a coating

I have had a 2.5-10 Accupoint with the green post on a .17 Fireball for ten years and have killed groundhogs with it out to 400 yards. Takes a little getting used to but I find putting the point of the post on the kill zone, not much goes wrong. Recently sold another one, the same, with an amber point. No issues, just prefer the green.

Are you dialing on those longer shots? Or does the triangle allow for a certain amount of holdover without too much target obstruction?

Depends on the cartridge but usually dialing.

If I went with a post, it would be mounted on a 25-06. Zeroed at 250 yards would require 9 and 16 inches of holdover for 350 and 400 yard shots. I would consider that a practical maximum for the rifle.
