Triggers -- What is Your Preference?

For my competition rifles, I used Jewels for years. The, when Bix and Andy came out, I bought one for each of my four Rifles.
The Rifles shot exactly the same.
Since 1995, all I did to the Jewels was wash them out with lighter fluid. No taking apart, no failed parts. I can honestly say one never failed.
The B&A? Well, in two years, two have failed, requiring me to take them apart and clean them. You cannot simply clean it like a Jewel By flushing it. Chris’s Harris helped me with one in Phoenix at the Nationals two years ago.
The B&A is a great trigger. We got spoiled by Jewels relative maintenance free operation over the years. Something more complex, more expensive, and requiring more attention has to be better.

BnA claims the TacSport PRO trigger is maintenance free. Maybe try that trigger over the more expensive competition model. I’ve have one on a 300 NMI and it was on a different 300 NMI before that. Has a lot of heavy rounds on it and never an issue. However, the TS PRO will only drop down to 3.5 oz pull weight so not sure if that’s too heavy for some purposes.

#1 pick is Jewell followed by B&A Tac Sport Pro. Don't know if they still use carbide but TTs had issues with ADs. That brand is permanently off my list of components. YMMV.

I have only experienced Jewell and TT. My one and only TT is the primary model. I way prefer Jewell. Perhaps the more expensive TT would change my mind? Kind of doubt it though. There was so much hype online about the TT's I just couldn't stop myself from trying one. Wish I had resisted.

You can always sell the TT and buy another Jewell.

I compete in 'cross the course' [XTC] highpower. I've had a Jewell, a TT and a Bix n Andy Tacsport Pro.
For XTC, I like a two stage so BnA is my first choice. I have to say that with it set up at 8oz first and 10oz second, it was just great.
The Jewell is also a great trigger but only single stage. But, release is great. Very, very little creep.

I might have stayed with the TT Diamond, but the trigger failed after less than 1000 rounds. With a TT AR Diamond also having failed earlier, I went with a BnA rather than replace the TT.

The BnA did start having widely varying release weights. Cleaning it fixed it. But, it was only after a couple thousand rounds. And, the trigger had to be completely disassembled - there was gunk on the base plate that only came out when the parts were removed and wiped with a q-tip. If I had a BnA I'd want spare parts - like extra ball bearings and the springs - because it's gonna be cleaned a fair amount and those parts are going to be easy to lose.

What about Timney, most of theirs are really good triggers.
I Like the Calvin Elite with the straight shoe.. In fact I am changing all of my triggers to straight shoes.. I like Trigger Tech Primary as well. I use my guns as all around rifles. Hunting and target shooting..So I want something around 1.5-2 pounds.

I’m running Flavio Whisper 2.0 and love them this far. All the perks of their first version but virtually maintainance free now (sealed up nicely). I loved loved loved my Bix. I don’t think a properly tuned Bix can be beat, but after watching a few go down at Nationals in 2019 it just left me nervous so I switched.

I have however been properly crushed countless times by those shooting everything from Timney’s to Jewels to factory Savage. In the end it’s the finger pulling the trigger more than the trigger. We are spoiled these days with lots of amazing triggers to choose from.
