Trigger...worst in history!

Never got any response to inquiries about a BRUTAL trigger in a Marlin model 60 semi, posted in rimfire back in Oct. Anyone in this thread have anything to try ?? ???

You might try a Rifle Basics trigger. I have replaced several poor triggers with them.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have never seen a Rifle Basics assembly but I'm thinking if it looks like a normal trigger set, this won't apply to this deal. This works off of a maze of funny looking transfer bars and gizmos and springs that reach 2-3" forward from the actual trigger to actuate the auto-loader bolt and mechanizms. It's only slightly less complicated than the space shuttle. Oh yeh, I don't want to spend $100+ bucks on a $100 gun either. I'll just pass it on to some youngster that will love it for what it is...a very accurate .22 with a horrible trigger. Most probably any good smith could analize the workings and figure out how to get some improvement but don't want to incure bench time costs for a study session...just thought maybe someone here might have experience with one of these little monsters. Thanks again.

In all Honesty do you EXPECT a BR trigger on a $100 gun ? Most lower end 22's are functional field 22's and that's about it. We learn We grow and We move on to better things. If you want a 22 auto with a trigger that can be TUNED Ruger 10-22 is where to start (mine is 6 ozs.) for I believe was a 40$ charge some years ago.

CJ6...you have a valid point concerning the price point of this rifle. However...having made zillions of the Mod60, I can't be the only one to be quite disappointed by this setup and hope to find some sort of remedy or even minor improvement. If you shoot a ten shot group and your finger is mangled, red, and quite sore, you tend not to pull it out of the gunsafe very often even though it is pretty accurate, capable of nice 3/4" groups at 50 yds with standard velocity CCI 1070's. It is scoped but i have to wonder if a 10-12 yr old could even hold the crosshairs to the point of aim while trying to get this thing to go off. This is not a new thing...was like this new out of the box. Thanks.

DUMP the Marlin---get a Savage mark 11 with an a-trigger--You will be so happy you wont believe it--so will the kids-and they will shoot it!!!!

Marlin came out with a NEW style (improved) trigger recently, (but it may be only the bolt guns). I haven't tried 1 as yet either.

Marlin replaced their entire line of bolt-action rimfires. The new models will be designated XT-22's and have a new trigger.

Be sure to check out the XT-22VR and the XT-17VSL. At 6 lbs. and with a supposedly improved trigger, those two should be deadly. The XT-22VR is the new version of the greatly missed 980V.

Savage has yet to put an Accutrigger, or anything special for that matter, in the 64. It would be a smart business decision for Marlin to take a step forward and develop something for the 60 and 795.

I guess my efforts towards refining this Mod60 a bit, have pretty much hit a dry hole. Apparently time to pass it along to someone that would just like to plink tin cans and move on to a better rifle. Thanks gang. You're all correct that there are waaaayy better choices out there. Ya can't make a silk purse out of.......
