Trigger for a Ruger American Gen 2

Afternoon everyone. I've always bought TriggerTech triggers for my rifles, but I do not see where TriggerTech makes a trigger for a Ruger American Gen 2, and this factory trigger has got to go.

The rifle shoots good to be just a deer rifle, except for the trigger. Does anyone have any recommendations on a trigger for this gun? This is just a budget build gun for use by friends and family, so not really looking to spend more on the trigger than what the actual gun cost new.

Pretty sure Timney has one.

Timney. I put one in my RAR 300BLK before It was even fired (and a few other things typically suggested). Not a bad trigger for a surprising little rifle.

Mine is a single stage unlike what I see mentioned above.

Considered a stock change. Poor little thing looks like homeless crackhead with the plastic. Weird I know, but I'm having trouble putting $700+ in a MDT or Heatseeker, but had no problem putting $1k in a scope, and over $1K putting a Nomad on it.

I actually preferred the single stage, but I could not find anywhere in the description of it that it was adjustable, and I did not want a 3 pound trigger pull even though it's just a deer rifle. So I got the 2 stage because the product description actually stated it was adjustable.

I don't know now. Mine is adjustable at about 24 ounces now. I can look it up, but I know I tossed the package. Probably a year or more ago when I bought it. There is no take up or first stage if you will.

I feel ya. But my dealer cost on the XRS chassis was only like $412. The scope that went on it was an Arken for around $700, and I did add a can as well for another $900+. So much for a good deal on a $450 gun, huh?

Timney is what I put on my Ruger RPR, it's is better and doable. Just not the best. Never get in down below a pound. TT Diamond has been trying to make a trigger for Ruger rifles for a while now and just can't do it from what they have told me in e-mails from them. I kept e-mailing them and at first they said they are working on one. Now it sounds like they are not.

This went into a Ruger American Gen 2 in 308 Win. I've always used TriggerTech triggers, but this one i really sn't bad. And considering TT like you said, doesn't offer a trigger for the Ruger American, it will have to do. But overall, is it a pretty good trigger? Absolutely. But picking between the TT or Timney, I'm still probably gonna go with the Trigger Tech.

I don't think that $$s are the "end all" consideration. It's all so personal~! The grand conclusion is ending up with what makes you happy. If money is no object and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will never sell the rifle, why not~?
I say 'personal' because as much as I love shooting and accuracy my basic nature just won't allow me to spend anywhere that much for one rifle. I don't do it for cars or vacations either. Maybe if I was a competitive shooter and had lots of money I would look at it in a different manner.
I wish you good luck with your rifle.

Someone screwed up at the factory and I got a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor and was able to turn down the factory trigger to 2.8# with no issues. Add a B&C fiberglass stock, a Weaver 6.5X20 scope and Nosler 140 gr Acubonds in Lapua cases and that rifle is deadly on Muleys and Goats. Heavier than a stock one but nicer to look at.
