Torque Wrench?

Would like to get a torque wrench to use for scope rings and bases-guard screws ect. What is the best one? ive looked at brownells and didnt see any i especially liked. Thanks
My choice is a CDI 401SM. But if you think 40 in lbs is not tight enough for action screws, this wouldn't be a good choice for you.

Shopping out of boredom and I just noticed Midway has the Wheeler FAT Wrench $34.95, probably won’t ever see it much cheaper than that.

I'm surprised that orka has only been mentioned once, they aren't terribly expensive and have always been spot on when checked with a Snap-On

I'm not an expert on what level of precision is needed in torquing down action & scope screws, but for the money, the Wheeler Fat Wrench seems to be plenty adequate & very repeatable. Just be sure to back-off the spring pressure when not in use.

My wife designed calibrators for Fluke. I don't say anything about instrument accuracy.

The best. . . is a beam torque wrench, preferably a decades old Sturtevant-Richmont inch-pound wrench.

$30 on fleaBay gets you a real steel all-American tool that will outlive your grandkids.

I also picked up a Wheeler a couple years ago, satisfied with it for the cost.
If a guy use the supplied little L wrench with scope ring sets, tightened with long end in hand on bases and short end in hand on rings would get you to the same place as a torque wrench.

If you are just doing scope rings & bases & action screws the Wheeler will do the job. I have been using mine for quite a while, it comes with a test sticker inside the lid that gives you results at different settings.

Regards
Rick
