Tool to hold a cartridge case

Turbulent Turtle

F-TR competitor
I saw an ad recently somewhere about a hand tool that allows one to easily grip a cartridge case and hold it while you work on it. I can't remember where I saw this or the name of the tool, but after a weekend of trimming cases with a WFT, I need to find it. It looks like padded pliers. I guess I can always create something with some padding and cooking utensil or tool.

I saw the ad too. Just can't remember where.
Run down to your local home improvement center and pick up a length of clear poly tubing that fits snugly over your cases. Slip that into a 1/2 - 3/4 inch three jaw chuck (on or off the drill) and you're home free.
Or maybe one of these:

Well, fat lot of good you are; with a memory as lousy as mine. :-)

Actually, it's good to know I didn't imagine it.

Wow, those are tools that Torquemada would have loved to own. Brrr.

I like you idea of the poly tubing; I would guess anything like about a half inch ID would be good for the .473 case heads.

Excellent point..... and I feel better knowing that I'm not alone ;)
At my age most folks really don't expect me to remember much. There's a certain sense of freedom in that and I'm pretty happy living in that zone. ;D
Nice to see royesses knew where to go. Heck, it's only $85 per caliber. One of each set they offer would only set me back $1275. I'll just take my new rifle savings account and buy a couple of those ......... :o

I just found it in Handloader magazine; Brassgrippers.com and I watched the video.

Edited: I see that Royesses had found it also. Thanks.

It's $85 for the tool itself. Then you can get additional jaws for $30 for head and $30 for neck. Hmmm, I really only need it for the .308. I'll get one and see how it works out.

try a wlison case holder( in your hand) that they use with their case trimmer...

one heck of a lot less than 85 us american dollars

Real men don't use the Brassgrippers, they just hold the cases with their bare hands and work through the pain and just wipe the blood off the cases when they are done.

I mean anyone who removes the primer pocket crimp, uniforms the primer pockets and flash holes. And then trims the cases by hand on three five gallon buckets of .223/5.56 brass until his fingers are too sore to pick his own nose should have his head examined. ::)

I mean, what wrong with the way our forefathers prepped cases a 100 years ago.

Did I tell you I wouldn't buy the Brassgrippers because it still takes a little feel to do the job right. And with the Brassgrippers your hand will still get tired and without any feel your going to screw up a lot of cases using the Brassgrippers.

So be a man, work through he pain and forget about picking you nose for a few months until the scabs heal on your fingers. ;)

Or you can buy auto mechanics gloves to keep your fingers from bleeding and don't do 300 hundred cases in one sitting.

The above message was brought to you by the The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Cartridge Case Trimmers and Peppers.

(and for the poor stupid people who have firearms that throw perfectly good brass away and make you go find it) >:(

Big Ed's in rare form tonite. Might have something to do with that bottle of "group tightener" he keeps under the reload bench. :o

Too bad it wasn't so rare as to remain unseen.

It was funny though.

All joking aside, you still have to grip the pliers, your hand will still get tired and your going to be at least six inches further from your work and have far less "feel".

So get a good pair of automotive work gloves and mix some Bengay cream and some novocaine together, rub it on your fingers and hands and quit crying and whining about it. ::)

Its not like a sore bleeding trigger finger is going to hurt your shooting scores anyway. :o

Why not just get a Sinclair case holder and clamp it in a small bench vise? I find mine useful either for holding a case stationary when using a tool mounted in my cordless drill or when I want to spin the case.

Want to make it a "hand tool", just stick the case holder in a short screwdriver handle made for interchangeable bits. Home Depot used to sell one cheap that had a large "Ball Shaped" grip.

I'm with Bid Ed, the process does require feel. And what is wrong with a K&M or LEE case holder, both will chuck up nicely in the drill or can be used with a handle.

I had better take a look at the future of reloading tools to see what me and my hard earned cash are missing out on, lol.
