Case trimming from a Case Prep machine?

Failed to mention that I did replace the cutter tool head, still no joy. LOL That's why I moved on.
Can't imagine what went wrong?

I have been a Giraud user for a long time. That dates back to when the options were the Giraud or the Gracey.

I even still use the Wilson and Forster tools, and even do bulk on the Dillon. But with the Dillon, I was still in the habit of doing the inside chamfer.

I have been loading since I was a kid, and then spent my adult life in the defense industry. Let's just say my girls and friends who don't really understand this stuff find me difficult to buy for at Christmas, but sometimes they still try.

One of them gave me the FA prep center for Christmas. At first I was skeptical, but later on discovered it fits my needs at times, and does an excellent job for me even though I have all those other options. The Henderson and Giraud are great, and so are the hand cranked tools like the Wilson and Forster. The FA unit has been very flexible and quick to change back and forth between many cartridges without the need of cartridge specific tooling.

I have since set up lots of folks in reloading, and have gifted the same unit many times. Those units have done very well and I would still recommend it to folks looking for a decent starting point. Sorry to hear yours didn't perform, but I can't imagine why if the cutter wasn't dull.

In any case, we don't need to go too far down the case trimmer rabbit hole. Hopefully the OP learned what he needed.

I still have the FA unit, I just use the 3 remaining attachment points w/o issue.

My experience. Case prep machines are no where near accurate on trim lengths compared to a Forster. Too much slop. Even with Forster you will have to deburr/chamfer which will draw your brass out .001. At which point you rinse and repeat. What level accuracy are you looking for? That's the question. I'm talking about no variance. No doubt deburring after the trim will draw brass out.
