It has been so cold here that kids are walking around with their pants pulled up

It is not only too cold to shoot, but I am also needing to use my loader tractor to locate the wood pile. It has been a steady diet of alternating extreme cold and snowfalls. Worst winter here since the late 70's and early 80's. I have been taking care of my Mother most of the fall and all winter ( she passed on Tuesday) so am way behind on my gunroom projects. They will keep me busy now until it is fit to shoot. Then about 3 large projects that must be done when spring finally arrives. I may get to shoot by mid summer ;D

Lost my Mom in early 2001....I miss her and love her more every day but realize she is always here in spirit and we will be together again someday. I and many others share your loss.

I went to our 1st registered match of the year yesterday, it was about 28 degrees at the start of the match. The only real problem was rim fire shooters with SKS and Wolf ammo – it’s sensitive to cold weather and if you didn’t keep it in your pants pocket it shot several inches low at 100 yards. BUT, it was still better than watching the build up to the Super Bowl on TV ;D

SmallTruck,

I feel your pain on the weather... Its time to move south.

For treatment tho, my youngest daughter and I went to the indoor pistol range on Friday and I shot Air Rifle from the kitchen into the garage while the wifey was at work on Sat... ;D It's still cold as you-know-what, but I feel better....

Long winter days are for catching up on all the brass prep and loading related jobs that your too busy to do when it warms up and you go shooting.

we shot a club rimfire steel plate match this morning.
about 45 here now. The day started at about 65. About 1030, a bit of rain and a front came through.

Should you get over the mental effect of the cold and get to the range and try it. you may have a renewed vigor. Nobody else will be at the range and you will gave a blast. I suggest u at least try it.

It is fun but when you need a snowmobile to get into the range and snowshoes to walk around it takes some of the fun out of it,not to mention the below zero temps.
