Tired of being blocked

Well, I just did it. I pulled the plug on Delaware and moved to Texas. We looked at Wyoming. The winters are long and cold. We got twice the house for the same money, here in Kerrville. I know I’m gambling against the Liberal influx. If we can hold them off for ten years, I’ll probably have Alzheimer’s by then and won’t care!
I’m 62. Moving was hard and it wasn’t cheap, tho the relief from taxes will cover the moving expenses in three months. The tax savings will pay for the house in ten years. If I last longer than ten years, I’ll be making money!!:D.

Congrats. And.... there's real BBQ and real Mexican food in TX. Nirvana!

You’re right about that! Best ribs I’ve had in a long time! There’re 4-5 good Mexican restaurants in town. We picked our favorite and hit it at least twice a week. We tried the Chinese place just to take a break from barbecue and Mexican.
The best thing about this part of Texas is the people. Everybody is nice! I’d say 90% Republican pro-gun folks. I feel like I went back in time to the early 60’s. People smile and say “Good morning or afternoon”. Open doors for my wife, hold them for me if I have my hands full. Just nice down home folks! So far, I’d say the move was the best thing I’ve done in a while. Wish I’d done it ten years ago!

I'm at the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana CA waiting for a flight. I hook up to free wifi and this site and every site that has anything to do with firearms or shooting is blocked. Is it this way at every airport?

Same thing happens at work. I work for a very liberal company so complaining there would get only frowns and end promotions.

But the airport is a public venue and blocking my hobby is a violation of my rights. Imagine the outrage if they blocked websites that promoted gayness or Antifa or socialism?

We need to start making our voices heard about blocking shooting related websites. The internet is the new medium and our freedoms are being silently removed behind the scenes. Don't think it's ok because we can work around it (I'm hooked up to my phone as a hotspot right now). They will keep chipping away one thing at a time.

The First Amendment does not apply to private companies. Your rights aren't being violated. None of the airports I have been to are blocking shooting websites. Twitter and Facebook can ban you. Your ISP can throttle gun related websites without telling you. Web browsers can de-list your website, and you will have next to no legal leg to stand on.

It is probably their default firewall setting that blocks forums in general...even the gay antifa forum if that was actually a real thing that exists.

While this might be true today, it might not be tomorrow. SB822 prohibits ISP's from blocking lawful content. Other states have approved similar bills. What state net neutrality legislation means in the face of what the FCC has done regarding the roll back of net neutrality is an active area of debate and litigation.

If a privately funded organization ever blocks you, the appropriate response is simple. Make sure you "block" any of the money in your pocket from ever going to them. Be sure to inform them in writing of what you did, and why.

So D Stone. Are you saying the airport is a private company? What company?

Many airports are privately owned, but many are also owned by the municipalities where they operate. John Wayne is owned by The County of Orange. Owning is usually all about the land, which is then leased to private operators. Those private companies then provide the WiFi and other amenities and not the government, so it is not your tax dollars that are paying for it and hence they can charge for it if they want or give it to you for free and regulated it. The FAA, a federal agency, gives grant monies to airports for certain things and then the local municipality that owns the land has to agree to leave the place open and operating as an airport for a certain period of time.

I am on the board of directors of two airports, both owned by local municipalities and both leased to and run by private companies. We can pretty much do what we want with the exception of not allowing aircraft to land or take off. We set our own landing fees, parking polices etc. We provide WiFi at both and do not block any sites from either airport WiFi System, but we have the right to and you certainly have the right to fly into or out of another airport.

I have been hospitalized quite a few times in the last few years and every hospital I have been to offers free WiFi and everyone has Gun Sites Blocked. There is no charge on my hospital bill for WiFi, so I am not specifically paying for it and have no special rights. They do not block my cell phone signal, except in the operating room, where, when there, I am not to interested in checking on my latest bid on GunBroker, but in my room, my smart phone and iPad do it just fine.

Update: I'm in the Atlanta Airport on the Delta Admirals Club wifi and shooting is not blocked. I guess that's a point for Delta.

I will contact John Wayne airport next week and see what they say.
