'State of the Forum' Report and Donation Invitation

Thanks for the great site. I can only imagine the time and effort it takes to manage a site as informative as this one. It is by far (IMO) the best shooting related site on the internet. Donation sent.

Want to thank the folks that have responded. We've received about 50 donations so far in 2013, with a couple big donations from very generous guys. Keep 'em coming in ... if we can raise another $1000.00 we can cover the Forum server cost for a year.

Paul, I made my 2nd donation a few minutes ago via PayPal. I listed "Dennis" vs "DennisH" as the contributor in the note section. Hope this does not create a big problem, but the transaction went through.

2nd, I really feel like there should be a mandatory fee for using the complete accurate shooter system. The information found here is 2nd to none and is worth a price. I have always been able to find an answer for any question I have, plus I have help a "few" solve their problem or answer simple questions.

With saying this, and to everyone who reads this, think about donating to keep things top notch on this board. We love our sport and love sharing information, but it cost to keep things rolling. $2.00 per month shouldn't hurt anyone who is on this board strictly to improve their skills and knowledge. I am a NRA Life Member and paid a lot more for that privileged as I believe in what they do for us. This board is no different, other than it may cost a little less.

Hi gents

Well, from way down here in New Caledonia, cycloning as it currently is,things seem to be boiling up somehow!!!Very good,a very brilliant and happy new year to all on the site, the unique top notch site on the web as far as I'm concerned, out of sight brilliant,25 bucks are coming from down under somewhere,hi there Aussies and Kiwis, put your hands to your pockets,it won't hurt any....You'll be the happier for it,it's just a couple of tinnies' worth....Come on!!!

"90 contributors out of 20,000 in the last quarter"....It's very hard to place a monetary value on education but I find it hard to believe the information retrieved from this site by at least half the users has not resulted in a financial help in not making costly errors. Actually education is 'priceless' and the ability to access so much so quickly is rare. The classified section is an area unto itself where there is no fee for the seller to present his items to a very select customer base. A few dollars sent to the site for selling an item is the least one should do.
I would not want this site to go the way of "Precision Shooting".
Another small check in the mail.....I feel obligated for all the good info!

M-61, you make some very good points -- and it's good to remind folks of the benefits of the FREE Classifieds. Here you can sell a rifle with no listing or transaction fees. If you sell a $2000 rifle on Gunbroker.com you would pay about $38 in fees with Gunbroker's current fee structure.*

Regarding the 90 contributors (out of nearly 20,000 Forum members) in the last quarter, here's another statistic to consider. During Q4 of 2012, over 500,000 unique users visited AccurateShooter.com. Only .018% of those half-million site readers made a donation (90/500,000 = .018%).

Now if half of our 20,000 Forum members kicked in $12 a year (a buck a month) we could hire two additional full-time staffers, and double the content (stories, photos, videos, gear reviews) we currently provide.

*Gunbroker Fees -- $2000 item would cost:
$25 times 5% = $1.25
$975 times 2.5% = $24.38
$1000 times 1.25% = $12.50
Total = $38.13

I send Jason $20.00 twice a year, my January payment is in the mail..
The other payment will go out in June as usual...

Happy New Year Everyone. I have donated before and I just sent another donation through paypal. To me this site is a tremendous asset. I wish there would have been an information source like this back in the 70s when I started shooting. To Forum Boss I would be happy to pay an annual subscription fee for this site and I think there are plenty of other shooters that would also, so you should institute one. Thank You and all others who have made this site a reality. Good shooting.

Just made my second donation since being a member for 9 months. 9 months ago I didnt know what MOA was. Now I handload all my own ammo and im currently having my first custom rifle being built. It all started a few years ago when I decided to buy a new scope for my 10/22 and started target shooting with it. I then bought a Savage .223 and then another. Then I started looking up info about reloading and found this site. Now im a member. Thanks to everyone for educating me in the world of rifle shooting.

Come on Boys, I know the economy is tuff, but kick in a few bucks, just the price of six pack will help. send in a check and get your name on the contributor list, it does mean something and attests to your character that you are a giver and not just a taker. If you have sold something on here, bot something or just learned somethng new then it is time to pay up...send a donation.

Paul,
I have not been on the site much lately and have fallen behind on my donations I sent a small donation via paypal just now and will get back to being more regular with donations and being on the site, thanks for all your services Happy New Year.
Wayne.
