Tired .17-5.56 annealing again

I watched the KAK video on setting the shoulder. The brass already had the necks sized down( can see it clearly), he stated the brass is freshly annealed when you receive it from them. He than lightly lubes the case body and neck, sized using the full length Redding 17/556 die. This would result in very few crushed and clean wrinkle free shoulders. Especially if no lube is applied to the shoulders.
Yes they anneal theirs they sell after forming :)
Actually me and someone else asked them about this on one of their shorts

Are you taking unsized brass and sizing the necks from .250+ outside to .170 inside neck diameter in one pass?
I take 221 fb down to 17mack4 in one pass and will only miss up maybe 1 case out of 100 . and I have done 600 cases for P-Dog shooting . I don't use a bushing die , I anneal the brass and I use a Redding Trim die and Imerial sizing die wax.

In taking 223 to 20 Practical I do it in steps. First I size 5.56 with RCBS FL die with the expander ball removed, that takes the neck from .2520" Outside Diameter to .2375" OD. Then with bushings die I use a 233 bushing, and last a 225 to get to 20 caliber. That's 3 bumps. If you do what I do, then you could just do the final 17-5.56 die and be good to go. Just what works for me. Then anneal after that's all done. YMMV

I ran a random piece of 223 brass into a 223 FL die with expander removed. I went right to a 17 fireball die. Raised the ram all the way up, screwed die down till contact, then about three revolutions. Raised ram and sized. Long story short I did this and ended up with longggg neck and no issues. Did another just for giggles.
FYI lube can be used but very very sparingly, residue from a patch is what I do on occasion.
The flex of the “bench” is totally unacceptable for me.
I don’t like the one pass, it’s not working try something else.
I have sized up and down a lot of brass over the years. Some finesse is required on occasion.
You should be able to feel the neck crush, flexing 2x6 does not do you any favors.
Slow and steady wins the race, the wham bam all at once is t working TRY something else.
