Tipton Jag Issue

Longtrain

I purchased a 22 & 6mm Tipton Nickel coated jag as Bore Tech Eliminator was giving me false positive blue color with my Dewey jags. Problem being I can’t get my patches down the barrel, even using a 22 jag for the Dasher barrel. Totally useless.
Does anyone make a non-reactive jag that will allow a Boresmith Triangle Patch to fit properly? Thanks.

I do not like or use any Tipon Cleaning tools. Their jags tend to be oversize and are difficult if not impossible to size. In addition, once the protective nickel coating is compromised, the jag is no longer solvent resistant. I have other issues with their products, but I will not go into it here.

Instead, I use Dewey rods, brushes, and jags. Dewey sales solvent resistant jags and they are easy to size, if need be, to match the patches you are using. Their solvent resistant jags are solid aluminum. To obtain a totally false positive free system, you need to use their rods with the aluminum ferrules.

I limited experience with Bore Tech cleaning tools, but I found them to be very high quality also.

Same problem but I switched to hoppies 9 bulk cotton patches and it stopped... You can buy them everywhere , I normally get the 12ga size and cut them down to what I want , you get a bunch in a bag... One square will make 9 .22 cal patches , 4 for .308 etc.... Not much waste but I like the idea that I can make the patches a little smaller or a little larger if needed... I have found that with certain cleaning fluids like boretech that they are kinda sticky especially when the bore is dirty so a smaller patch simply makes it easier to get it down the tube... Then a larger patch is nice in the end to get the oil out of the bore more efficiently....

try stabbing the patch off center and it will enable them to pass easier. The further off center the easier they go
