Great work! Very nice finish. What tooling are you using?

Threaded with Arthur Warner HSS, bolt nose recess is with JGS .705" counterbore. I do go behind with some beautification!!
Good deal! AR Warner makes nice stuff. I have their threader, profile tooling, parting tool and a few turning bits. They get used a lot. Plus their shop is about 15 min away if I need anything. :)
Dang! I must really be behind the times! I'm still hand grinding or going to the tool & cutter grinder. But yes, I do use inserts exclusively in the CNCs. A lot less foolin' with the "offsets" that way and about anybody can take it loose and flip/rotate it to a 'fresh' edge.

I do the same. I'm always touching up, shaping HSS and cemented carbide to do what I need. Index tooling has its place too...

Love that copper wire.

I can see the benefit of a copper wire in fitting.I use brass fittings with a fulcrum in the middle. But I have to have a few to work on the different contours. It does allow me a full contact without the worry of a slip.Nice looking work gents!Cheers!

"Hey Butch, my old Southbend has a 2 1/4 x 6 thread for the chuck, I was wanting to do the same thing, to be able to dial in even shorter barrels. Cat head, now I know what its called!" - tclaunch

My old South Bend has the same thread. Many moons ago I made a cathead out of a square Aluminum block with 4 brass tipped bolts, and mounted it onto a faceplate. Works very nice, and put the seldom used faceplate to good use. I also made a rear cathead out of a bored out pipe coupling with 4 brass tipped screws.

My Lathe is the only SB H10 that have ever seen with a double drawer stack underneath the chip pan. It came with both drawers full of tooling, mostly not what I was needing to dial in and chamber barrels. I do have a slotted plate that fits the threads on the spindle. I need to spin that on next chuck swap to see how that would work, thanks for the tip.
