Time to make the donuts....

Another question,
What sort of jar/container are you using to lube?
Have you modified it in any way to keep the jackets from just sliding so they tumble a bit?

CW

If you don't have to, then there is no need to re-lube
Some jackets just won't point up without re-lubing
Some re lube just because that is what they were taught.

Is just my 2 cents
I only use .5 grain of lube per 600 jackets for core seat, tumbling them for 30 minutes.

When I relube for point up, I use 4.5 grains of lube, (pure lanolin), for the same 600 bullets, doing the same 30 minutes.

I have refined this over a period of time and this makes the bullet I want.

I do clean the lube jar after every procedure so I keep the same formula every time.

What container do use Jackie?

I core seat in steel dies. One die is for pointing in one of the two steel point dies. The other is when I point in the Robinett carbide die. Lube amounts differ dramatically between the two. Either way, I like to relube prior to pointing. For jars, I use big pickle jars.

I did discover a crack in one of the jars. No telling how many had been tumbled in it since '04.

Thanks Al,
Is that jar inserted in a thumblers tumbler or something similar? What keeps the jackets from just slipping around...... or does it even matter????

I had always assumed that those who use a small amount of lube for core seat and the retumble with additional lube for point up were doing this to help prevent the core seated jacket from sticking on the core seat punch during core seat? Any doing it for this reason?

It goes into a rotational tumbler designed for wet tumbling...it has a screw on lid. Foam padding around the sides is overlapped so the jar is off center and always moving as the drum goes around. There's padding at the bottom so the tumbler lid tightens securly against the lid of the jar and holds the jar tightly.
