Time to level up.

Found my Hyper Single I will try a couple more of it. Sam Lair in Jenks, OK made these in the 1980s I believe. He used Shilen barrels and had a real nice adjustable trigger. The original stock was a piece of beautiful Myrtlewood, but a little plain in execution. I bought some French walnut from Tom Turpin and sent it to Jim Kobe to whittle on it. Kathy Forster did the beautiful checkering. I will try later to show Kathy's work later.

We have builders in the USA that are as good or better than the butlers, rigby, and other uropean builders. LR or FClass, and BR rifles can be built by some of the guys on this forum and others. You need to make a list of your priorities and do your due diligence checking out your gunsmith.
No doubt. But, people don't buy Rolex watches to keep accurate time.

The so called "Quartz Crisis" brought that to an end.
They (Rolex, and many high end watches) I think are bought for something I hold in high regard. Pride of ownership.

Son makes really smart choices. I mean, if you've got a $10,000 watch, you can afford to be late. If you've got an education in some field that can actually make you money then you can eventually afford to own a $10,000 watch. Hell... that's very much the situation I'm in. Having a Rolex when you're 18 I'm sure isn't as meaningful as finally being able to get one just for the sheer unadulterated hell of it when you're 50. Order of operations in decision making. It's a lost art.

When I got my first high end rifle scope it was a singular moment in time that told me I'd made enough decisions correctly and those decisions were made in the right order.

I'd need to know what kind of shooting you like b4 I could recommend.

There's everything from English sporting shottys to full auto, if yer looking to spend alot of money in a short period of time.

I love Mauser sporters with nice wood stocks myself, but since you mentioned Sako as one of your options, I think you cannot go wrong with that brand. A Sako 85 would be a near perfect rifle IMHO. I think it is probably the best factory rifle made today.

You worked hard for your money and deserve to spend it on what makes you happy. Many of us look on a rifle as a tool and the best tool is the one that gets the best result with the least effort, looks be damned. We all have different means and priorities and tastes. It would be a dull world if everyone liked and could afford the same thing. If your rifle works for what you use it for and gives you "pride of ownership" you have earned that distinction. You mention PRS and F-Class and there are many fine craftsmen here on this Forum who can provide a rifle that will never be the limiting factor on your score. They will be very beautiful as well. In competition as in hunting rifles form follows function, but beauty is certainly not a detraction from it.

After 25 years of effort it's coming up on reward time. I'm cashing in and starting to prep for my retirement. That being the case it's time to move away from Savage 10's and Howa 1500 rifles (as much as I really do like those) and move up a notch or two. My whole life names like AI, Steyr, Sako, Heym, Holland & Holland and Blaser had been hugely far out of reach because all of my money was going to either raise a family or sock away for my retirement. So now as I stand at a new dawn I find myself looking like one of Kubric's apes staring down a monolith. Since I've ever heard of the brands above I'm wondering if there's not some other really special makers that my poor butt had never heard of. So, what else is out there in the higher end of rifles?
Winchester pre-64 model 70's, FN made Browning label Safari, Medallion and Olympic grade mauser actioned rifles. Every single one I've shot has been very accurate and barrels clean up rather easily. The rifle you are looking for is a hunting rifle or is it a competition rifle? --Greg

I'm looking for a hunting rifle. Something that suggests very little expense was spared but without being gaudy.

If it’s to truly be a hunting rifle, I would go for something along the lines of a Beanland long range hunting rifle build or something similar from one of the other top rifle builders. Function over form. I would personally be uncomfortable in the field with a beautiful 3k-5k wood and blued masterpiece.

Mark, that won't buy one unless on the auction market.
