Tikka T3 Varmint 223 1:8T Loads

Hello All
Wanted to get an idea from anybody shooting a Tikka 223 Varmint in 1:8T re loads for 300m and 500m
e.g 69 SMK or 75 AMax's etc , interested in what you found the best loads, i'm shooting in factory class 300m & 500m
Also interested in what sort of accuracy you achieved from the 1:8 Tikka as well ?

Thanks in advance !

I load 25.5 grains of Varget with a 75 grain A-max in Lapua brass that has been turned just to clean it up and a CCI BR4. My Tikka is a T3 lite with a noodle barrel and shoots this load into 0.4" any day with many groups in the 0.2" range. ES is 13 fps and shoots well under 3/4 MOA beyond 600 yards. I shoot this rifle just to prove to my friends that both a factory rifle and a little 223 can outshoot their customs when the wind isn't blowing too hard.

Thanks Froggy

Couldn't locate any 75 AMax last week so I've just tried the 77 gr Nosler Custom Comps, with BR4 primers, ADI 2208 (Varget) only went up to 23.2 gr (mild ) shot 100m 5 round group @ .5 , ( bad conditions ) so these Custom Comp's look promising, not sure on speed as no way of measuring, only concern is the Tikka is fairly short throated, the seated depth (10th off) leaves the 77 a fair way into the case, more then i'd like. This loads looks very light compared to others on here ?

Will find some 75 AMax's to try as well

Thanks Again

I'll try working up to that load when i can locate some 75 AMax's As i mentioned i tried the 77 Nosler Custom Comp's with BR4's and Varget, ADI load book lists 23.7 max load ( conservative ) only tried up to 23.2gr ( no sure on speed ) but groups started to close up with this load, i'll work up a little way, i'd say, shot a .5 group in bad conditions with this load, so far happy with this Tikka Varmint, as i said, only concern is a fairly short throat, leaving the OAL quite short, just looking for something for the 300m and 500m factory comps. was going to try the 69 SMK's, but i think i'll stay with the Noslers or the AMax

Thanks for the info

When I began shooting highpower, it was the Nosler bullets that I used. I feel that they make a ver good bullet for the price you pay for them. I feel that the 80 grain bullet pointed up would be a very good bullet to use at distance.

If I were to go back to shooting a 308 I prob would use the Nosler 155 pointed up.
