Tikka 6.5x47 Hunting Rifle Build

Here’s one just finished up for David Weaver
6.5x47 Lapua
Tikka T3X
Brux #5 1-8” Barrel
Action facce has been cut to remove the factory taper and a PTG tombstone recoil lug was added
Mtn Tactical bottom metal and trigger spring
McMillan Game Hunter stock
Cerakoted Patriot Brown

I really enjoy building these Tikka hunting rigs. It’s especially cool to get to chamber one in a non factory offering like the 6.5x47. I’ve done several of these in 6BR, 6x47, 6.5x47 and several other fun calibers. They feed great, look cool and make really good hunting rigs

Looks like a killer!!
I know the improved Sweed you built for Kaitlyn sure was.

Thanks Brett, you know how much I like these Tikka’s. I’m thinking my next personal build after I’m done with a few of these Ruger No 1’s I’m working on will be a Tikka in some wildcat.

Good shooting today too. Glad to see you let them guys know you wasn’t messing around at their F-Class match

You build a awesome shooter brother!!
I had a blast today giving the fellas a run for thier money.
2 big takeaways from today were
A custom action would be nice.
And a let up in conditions will give ya a couple 9's if you ain't paying attention!

Very nice!
Do you like the outcome of the Tikka custom build better than a build off of a Rem 700 action?

I think each has there pluses. It just depends on the caliber. You can feed a lot of cartridges from a Tikka because of the single stack magazine that’s harder to feed out of a Remington. You can make upgrades to a Tikka like $15-$25 trigger spring and get a 12 oz trigger that breaks like glass. It already has a Sako Extractor and side bolt release so that’s a big plus. The Tikka’s limitations are typically box length. Like don’t try to build a 300 Weatherby on a Tikka unless you want to single feed. I’ve done a couple of 30 Noslers on Tikka’s set up for hunting weight bullets and one recently that went on a plains game hunt in Africa but that’s about as long of a cartridge as you can get in a Tikka. No RUMS, or Weatherby’s or longer cartridges will work out of the factory magazine unless you choke it down so much it’s not worth having anyways.
If it wasn’t for that It would be the perfect platform to build on for hunting guns.

The gun I shoot for trigger time between Matche's is a T3 308 Win in a
KRG X-Ray Chassis with a 27 inch Shillen 10 twist.
...Its a sweet shooter too.
Nice job Zack...If I was going hunting it would be my pick as well.

I have two 6.5X47 Lapua I use for hunting.
One has a scope and the other iron sights, receiver peep. Built on Remington 700 actions the iron sight one is a single shot action.
For hunting I’m using 130 grain Nosler Accubond. Have shot a hog with one and deer with other. Both were close, hog 28 yards and deer at 6 so ballistics are not an issue.
l really like the cartridge and I fell it is one of the best deer cartridges available except for availability. Tikka platform is good for the reasons stated.

Set up looks great. Tikka's are the only one for me from here on out.
Bix'n Andy triggers just called and said.......'whats up?????' :)
I put Bix'n Andy in my tikka & wow! Did I need it? Maybe not. Is it the best rigger that I have ever pulled. Yes, but then again I don't have half of the experience as some members have here. I just know it's exactly what I wanted. I don't need a $10 cigar or a $30 shot of whiskey either. (I have smoked a lot of $10 cigars, and have had pappy's only once, and it was given to me).

I don't need a $10 ciga
I had a $35 cigar the other day. I didn't need it but, I had always wanted to see what some of the upper echelons were puffing on. Geez, I could've bought a box of bullets for that amount...If there any to be had!! Zack does build a sweet rifle. I'm wringing out the 257 WBY he built for me. It's a dandy!!
