That is wonderful to know.. Is there anyway for people to STOP saying "it's a tack driver!"
Maybe switch it's a "pecker hole?"

I'm a big fan of the old Tikkas as well. I prefer the older yet version, the pre-sako M55 and M65 rifles, though I do have a couple 595/695 as well.

This is my most recent, an M55 .22-250 heavy barrel Sporter - she's hefty, the only one I've seen like this in the 10 years I've been buying them. I've only put a handful of rounds through it but it seems very promising, like the rest of them.

A group shot of the Deluxe models I have acquired, though I may have sold one or two since this was taken. Might regret that someday.

@psycodog, that .25-06 will serve you well. I've taken a handful of deer with mine, none have taken more than a few steps, including this guy. :)

I did not realize Tikka means woodpecker, but sure am happy that it does!

Enjoy those old guns! I also have a bit of documentation (old catalogues, manuals etc) that I've acquired over the years, happy to send it to anyone who would like a copy.

The old M55 had cut rifled barrels.they were made proper.a customer acquired a brand new M55 action he asked me to check the action and accurize if necessary.i checked the whole action with the Faro arm and all critical surfaces were near on perfect.quite remarkable considering its a production made action.i fitted a Shilen barrel in .243 and it was a real tack driver.ive built quite a few rifles on Tikka actions and they are good.i have found if you chamber and fit a quality match grade barrel correctly they make very accurate rifles and the 595s feed 6br cases very well.Sakos are good aswell.

Damn gunshows! Went to another today and came home with another 595. This one is in 243 Win. Its hard to tell but looks almost unfired to me. Bolt face is spotless and the mag looks like there has never been a bullet loaded in it. Came with a 3-9x40 Weaver scope and gloss rings and a Harris bi-pod and a pretty nice sling. Doesn't seem to do me any good to try to sell something as I usually just spend the money on another rifle.

Psycodog, do you happen to know if the 595 and 695 actions are different lengths. Looking online and have not found it yet. thanks.

Maybe, but, I just tested a t3x in my m595 stock and the action holes line up perfectly and the receiver can fit with the 595 bottom metal, I just have to mill out the front area a bit to fit the action and make an adapter for the different location of the recoil lug (it is more forward in the t3).

So I am guessing the 695 will have longer action hole spacing

I have a 595 in 223 and a 695 in 300WM. Bought both used and they are tack drivers. Beautiful wood, great actions and triggers. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another (if I needed one) just as long as I could bore scope the barrel.
