Tikka 595 Varmint

I was asking for value on another forum and replies were pretty slow. Did all the Google searchs and came up empty handed. The rifle is a Tikka 595 varmint in 22-250. I'd give it an 8 -8.5 on condition. Its pretty nice. Very nice walnut stock and metal is good. Bore looks good as well. Just can't find anything on its value. Any idea??

Tikka 595/695 series are the pre T3 series so to say....695's being the long action

You can expect the 595 to be at least one pound heavier than the T3

My first 595 was on a dare.....7-08...so I ordered a syn/blue series...least $$$

Well distributor shipped a SS/syn for the cost of syn/blue....great rifle !!

Remember too......the pre Tikka was actually an Ithaca LSA series...also made in Finland

Tikka uses the same barrels as used in the Sako rifles....built in the same plant in Finland

Sako uses a three lug bolt...Tikka uses a two lug.....

Your rifle ? Buy it while you can...sorry it's a 22-250......):

Price ? It's a unicorn.......pay what you can afford (PM me if you like)

I'm a tikkanut on some forums.......(:

Buy it and have a premium barrel screwed on of your choice (308 face)

You'll have a fine rifle..........only issues ............

595 metal magazines are at a premium........

They made a 3 rd & 5 rd........

I know the walnut stock Tikka 595's aren't seen a lot at gun shows and doing a search comes up with nothing. The guy I bought it from was a dealer at a show this week-end. He was pretty much a local guy and a coyote hunter. He had several calls and decoys on his table. Just a redneck with guns.....kinda like me. LOL! Claimed the rifle was bought new by his son and used for coyote hunting. He claimed maybe 400 rounds through it. I know I can touch rifleing with averything I have tried so far, 50 and 55 grain bullets and still plenty in the case neck. Haven't tried 40's but very seldom shoot that light anyway. The boys hunting partner went AR-15 so the kid thought he needed to do the same and thats why the Tikka was for sale.

I bought this one. It should give you an idea. It was shot very little, almost new. Over the last few years before the pandemic, I bought a few 595s from $500 to 900. Condition and caliber in consideration. You take a chance with barrel burning cartridges.785F48AB-21CE-4947-A15C-48BEAAA31092.jpeg

Well I hope the guy wasn't lying to me and the barrel is OK. It looked OK with the naked eye. I've been burned before and I've also gotten lucky. I got some ammo loaded up and if the weather takes a break I'll make a trip to the range and see how it goes. Hopefully for the good.

595s have a good following. Hard to place a value on them, Ive seen them go for stupid money on gunbroker but most the ones I’ve seen in the used market go for 500-900 that actually sell. If it’s still grouping just keep it and enjoy or talk Josh into making one of his killer stocks for it, great rifles.

I bought one that had been bored for an Ackley Improved 22-250. No guessing on that one! It was toast, but I paid a low price for it “knowing” that because I wanted the stock and action. I put a 6br barrel on it and put it in a lighter hunting stock I carved up. I took the original stock, a pristine Master Sporter style, and put a pristine (looked unfired with the borescope) barreled action in 22-250 in it.
I put the new Master Sporter in storage as a collector and shoot the 6br...gently.
I did use the Master Sporter stock in my duplicator to make the only direct copy I’ve ever done, then gave it to Dusty Stevens. He’d been wanting one badly. A wonderful outcome of that was that he sent me a pristine Continental stock. One that I’d been searching for but unwilling to pay the price to get. I took another 22-250 with a synthetic stock, put the wood stock on it and voila! I had a Continental for cheap!

Those are some sweet looking rifles Josh. I'd be proud of either. The Tikka I bought is pretty nice. The stock is in really nice shape and the blueing is good to. I tried to post a picture but it says my pics are to large and I'm stumped on how to make them smaller. I used the same phone that I have used before and had no problems. Being old a dumb doesn't help. LOL I gave $750 for my 595. I can't say it was a super deal but not having anything to go by and todays market I don't think I got hurt. A trip to the range will tell me more. Right now my only negative is the mag is so short I can't stretch my bullets out and still use the mag. Its not a real big deal as I shoot most my rifles single shot anyway.

Ya dun good! After I got and inspected mine, I felt like I should send the guy another hundred. As it turned out, he wanted a lightly used 223 barrel. He got it for free and we’re both happy!
I took a stroll on Gunbroker last night. There’s ONE 595 for sale there. A nice little 223 going for $1195. That gives you an indication of the spread on them.

Got to the range today. This thing is a hammer. Stacks 52 grain Bergers in a nice ragged hole. CFE223 and a 52 Berger, 4 different loads and the largest 5 shot group @ 100yds was a .504. I think the barrel is fine.

NICE!! From the looks of it, you bought a Master Continental. A very fine gun and a steal at $750! Have fun with that Woodpecker!5C086205-A80D-46F3-8A15-9F778622947B.png

As a rule I don't poke fun at fellow shooters but there were two guys shooting the same time as me. I know them well and we banter back and forth. One was shooting a Rem varmint in 223 and the other a Savage 223. The one with the Remmy said he had just put a Jewel trigger in his rifle and it made all the difference. He was shooting bulk 55 grain FMJ. He had a target with about 10- 2" circles and was shooting 1 shot per circle. He was keeping them in the circles and was ecstatic. I said take a look at my target. I had two groups, 5 shots each and both looked like the one I posted. His comment was Holy Shit! I just smiled and said keep after it. LOL
