Just a heads up, I know someone that got Babesiosis from a tick bite in Chester county. It was some really bad stuff, required hospitalization.Did it bite you? Are you sure it is a wood tick? You may want to get tested for an array of tick-borne pathogens if it bit you, even if it is only a wood tick.
They are bad around here; I live close by (Reading area) and hunt northern Berks County. It's one of the many reasons I stop hunting off a bipod prone since those beasties are everywhere.

Wow… that does seem really early considering the long cold spells PA experienced this past winter!March 4, 2025 here in southeast Lancaster county PA had an unusually warm day and picked a small wood tick off my arm. Never had one this early.
Didn’t know that. I can say that the number observed where I live drops significantly in the colder months. But I’ll be watching closer now, especially on our wire hair terrier! You can get ticks in the winter they are very resistant to cold. Just a tiny bit of research.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever carrying ticks don't require that long. 2 hours or less. Unfortunately, I learned that from experience.Just remember it has to be on you for 24hrs before it can give you anything.it goes through 24hr feeding cycle then regurgitates into your bloodstream at end of feed cycle is how you get Lyme disease or lone Star disease.
