The other day I was tumbling a batch of 66 pieces of .308 brass. Water level was an inch from the top and 5# of SS media. Been doing this like this for 2 years. Anyway.... Came back about an hour or so later to get something in my shop and the tumbler had stopped turning. The motor was still running, but at a hard load. It was extremely hot to the touch and I thought I fried it.
Anyway... The rear shaft was binding on one of the nylon bushings. I let it cool down and oiled my two shafts. After that, no more problems.
Tip- Use some lubricating oil on your shafts under the nylon bushings.
