Thoughts on bedding a chassis?

Were you hacked?!

I agree with both of your posts. For this type of rifle and its intended purpose there are compromises that need to be made.

As with most guns the forend flexes at the recoil lug. This gun will mostly be shot off a bipod but could be a sandbag or backpack. That fulcrum point may be at the tip of the forend or at the mag well. So. . .. . Bedding in front of the recoil lug is going to cause varying amounts of pressure upwards on the barrel depending on where the support is positioned. Also this won't be shot free recoil so there is potential for movement on all axis depending on the tension that is applied during each shot. Combine that with a aluminium chassis being shot off of concrete, dirt, grass or mud there is going to be a wide range of harmonics at play.

None of those things are ideal but hopefully it flexes where it needs to and returns to its home position after each shot and meets its intended purpose.
Go test.

The original comment that you just edited had something along the lines of "Mr X count, I never said that you need to bed in front of the recoil lug. In my testing I have not found any improvement"

The photos of an action set up to demonstrate flex would suggest that your trying to show that additional support is required. But your comments say that it's not?

In my current experience has been bedding in front of the recoil lug is not required and is the reason why I have not done it. When we get to the nuts and bolts it sounds like you have had similar experiences while others prefer to have some extra support. Ultimately there are shades of grey.

While we have a mass-debate on the topic of bedding and support we should consider how TF this thing can even keep it on the paper?!!!?

I just showed you my setup I used to test for flex. I didnt say I found enough to worry about. Even with 1.450 barrels it wasnt enough to worry about. But I tested it. Its hard to see but theres about 16 to 18 pounds at the tang. That was a 30 inch straight 1.250. The flex across the action was only a couple tenths. It would be even less bolted in a stock.
