ThorroClean Question

There are two different thorrocleans!

The original one, came in a two bottle deal. The cleaning bottle (white) needed a ball bearing or something added to break up the abrasive that settled hard in the bottom.

What @Old Navy posted is a newer type that is like a thick condiment. Yes it's thicker. Just squeeze it out of the bottle?
That is the one I have.

A bit of a tangent.
I've been adding a tube of Iosso to a bottle of Flitz bore cleaner but using it on a patch wrapped around a Parker Hale. I'm folding the patch in half to get a nice tight fit in the bore. 10 complete strokes per patch.

1 patch/10 strokes for every 10 shots => throat area to bare metal.

I can use mine, just can't get it into the solvent port. I will just add it to the brush first. My bottle is really hard to squeeze. When I was younger I could squeeze it with two fingers.
Heard back from Bullet Central already. They said it looks like it needs to be replaced. They gave me a number to return it. I am passing on that. I will just use it as is.

You might can use a little free All to cut it. Free All is a little on the oily side and it cuts a little carbon and does a little for copper.

I think I will just stay with my two grades of JB Bore Paste..
Patch on a nylon brush, a coating of JB, 15-20 strokes, couple of patches of Boretec, “Rinse & Repeat” till clean.
Grey to get things rolling and Purple to finish…

I haven't tried the Thorroclean yet, but I do use a bit of Iosso from time to time. I was told that Thorroclean has some Iosso in it, but that's hearsay. I take it with a grain of salt.
It seems I'm not the only one wrapping a patch around a nylon brush with a light coat of abrasive cleaner on the patch.
I smear a little bit of Iosso onto the patch after I wrap it, then smooth it into the fabric.
Half a dozen strokes and the patch is coal black, so it's definitely working.
I think the key to using an abrasive cleaner safely is to not overdo it.

People have been doing that for a few decades (at least).

Way faster/easier/less messy to just apply straight to the brush, and get on with it.

'Not over doing it' is "don't think you have to go after every carbon 'stain' or shadow", not being a scared-y cat about getting after it.

I just started using it a week or so back. I went ahead and got the bigger bottles from Midway.

I have used Iosso for years and it is a regular part of my cleaning. Wrap a smeared patch on jag and stroke, clean it out, and bore scope it.

This Thorroclean does it just as fast (faster really) and from what my bore scope says, does it better. It could just be using the nylon brush instead of the patched jag. Don't know. I don't try to get all of the gray out at the throat to 8" down the barrel that is always there. I just try to keep any carbon from trying to make diamonds. Thorroclean got it all out without me intentionally trying to do so. Nothing but stainless steel. No carbon ring, no carbon streaks, nothing. I just did about 20 strokes nice and smooth, used the orange juice to punch it all out, and then bore scoped it. That said, I do not have any carboned up barrels, so there is that.

I noticed my bottle of Thorroclean was very hard at the bottom, and as I had read this very thread before my order came in, I knew to shake the bottle about 102 times to redistribute the "clay" on the bottom. Whew, what a run-on sentence!

Finally! The cleaner and the flush are sold separately.

ETA. Just received my 12oz bottle [that's a LOT of bore cleaner].
The consistency is like a thick mayonnaise and orangish in color.

EETA. And cleans just like Flitz or Iosso.
