This rifle shooting avocation is all consuming.

I understand - I'm a groundhog hunting addict - wind / rain / heat / bugs galore - no problem.;) Lighting - that's a problem:(

Wait for an hour for one to show and you miss:( - no problem - I'll get him the next time.:)

Then there is that great shot you make - when you're in the zone and everything is clicking - nothing like it!:):)

It all comes down to do what you enjoy and your Wife or whatever puts up with. I've been on this planet 69 earth years, I'm doing what counts most to me, taking care of my family
and KILLING these damn pigs in my backyard.Enjoy your life and forget what others think. Beam me up Mr.Scott I'm through.

Shooting is my yoga for the brain. I come home from a day at the range tired, relaxed, and ennervated, thinking about what I'll change or try the next time. I am blessed by a wife who doesn't complain about my time in the shop reloading or at the range burning through whatever I've just finished loading. And like other posters, it is a bonding thing for my grandson and me. We try to get in at least one road trip a month to do something gun related that generally costs me money. He used to just be a shooter; now he's picking my brain for reloading tips before CRS sets in and I've forgotten more than I know.

I've done cars, boats, motorcycles...and this is the most rewarding.

Shooting is cathartic but what I enjoy the most is the camaraderie with shooting buddies shooting the breeze about "life in general". Conversations that you will not have with your wife or female friends. For a fogey like myself, reliving of some of our stupidities of the past is very funny.

Yeah, but at the end of the day you can look back and say "I did that and loved every second of it!" Think of the many, many people who draw their last breath and say "is that all there was?"
Don't EVER stop finding and doing new and interesting things!
It’s like Bob Segar once said “Some men go just where they want, and some men never go”. I’ve always been the former!

Yep, and whether its pigs, bucks, Xs, ground hawgs, 1000 yard (+/-) targets, 15 yard pellet gun targets, pictures of bad guys or terrorists, (yeah pistol shooters are part of us too), rimfires or mega blaster .338 Lappys, we all enjoy the multivarious forms of poking holes in multivarious targets.
THEN, we relax with friends and fellow shooters & explain why we missed that last shot on the X ring.
Damn, this is a great sport.

9:00 pm is getting late, it was traumatic I'm sure, you old blister:)
Train Phideoux to lick your face when they show up.
I think a motion sensor that triggers an electric shock thru a wire with a clip on the end would do the trick. He could clip to his nose, finger, toe or anywhere in between that wakes him up!:D:rolleyes:
