Oregon, like California is suffering a financial crisis, their underfunded state pension debt has grown so large that without an infusion of billions of taxpayer dollars, many state workers will get a much smaller pension, or none at all. Best way to raise taxes without suffering taxpayer outrage is to make normal, everyday behavior illegal. Write tickets, collect fines, incarcerate, confiscate and sell property which, BTW, goes by the very seductive name of Asset Forfeiture. So they pick a contemporary hot button issue, the "ill d'jour" and use it as an excuse to further cement their power base by eliminating possible opposition.
The basis of the Second Amendment is to secure a free state, free from tyranny in government, (remember our founders were fleeing England and King George's tyrannical government), which is the whole basis of our Constitution. Therefore, perpetually chipping away at the Second Amendment is vital to the entrenchment of corruption, and the continued eroding of civil and Constitutional rights.
