this glove thing...?

Gloves are a personal thing,if a guy chooses to wear them so be it .I don't wear them while shooting but know many guys that do just fine with them .Myself,I worry more about my feet than I do my hands.

Nope,diabetic...down to 7 toes. Balance suffers greatly, hard to overcome that one.

If I drank coffee I would have spit it out, the complete opposite way I imagined the reply going just like JLT was. The prefect antijoke

I accept the RECOIL Magazine challenge! Tomorrow I am taking the 300 WM tubegun out to see how close Berger's drop chart matches. I will be wearing my wife's oven mitts! The yellow ones with the floral print.

Funny you should mention that. My uncle got skin cancer on his hands like that and is always saying I should be wearing gloves when I'm in the sun all day. I work from a bit after sun up till way after sun down 7 days a week from may to October. I should probably heed his warnings.

What's up with the gloves? I have looked thru a few shooting magazines (Recoil & Survival come to mind), and every person has a build like Arnold, 20-50% tat coverage, and wears shooting gloves firing an AR.

Three tours in RVN, and I never once saw anybody wearing gloves while shooting.

Standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on deployments these days include:
- gloves
- safety glasses/ballistic sunglasses
- and the list goes on

From personal experience I can say that handling crew-served weapons on HMMWVs, and various other metal components in the sun all day like climbing into the the MG turret in a HMMWV is tough during the summer months in Iraq. Most of these things get VERY hot and gloves help protect your skin from the metal parts that could burn them.

Not sure why someone would choose to use gloves in any other circumstance.

As far as tattoos go, they are trying to identify with their target market. Prior and current military. That would be my guess.

How about a pair of gloves with padded palms and carbon fiber knuckles for running a jackhammer? Do they count?

I grew us in SE Idaho hopping and jumping the lava rock reefs hunting rockchuck's or getting to the next fishing hole. my Grandma used to tell me I was half Billy goat. I never wore gloves but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have.

After breaking my back twice I don't do much hopping or jumping lol. Now it's more like shuffling lol.

I've got old mans skin on the back of my hands these days, it's thin,, bruises, cuts, and tears really easy. I just buy Harbor freight mechanics gloves when they are one sale and cut the finger tips off. I always use the 20% coupon and get the free item so they don't cost much. I don't like wearing them but I hate going someplace with the wife and my old hands are all bruised and torn up, looks horrible. The gloves help.

Many job sites these days you have to have gloves as a part of your ppe at all times, any work requires them. (and a safety vest, work boots with toes, hard hat and glasses) Don't have it go get it or go home. considering the number of hand injuries I've seen over yrs it's probably past due by a long time.

Frankly of the safety gear listed the gloves are probably the most useful.
