I have been doing some research about the differences and have found something about the feed ramps and feed rails being different.

I'm hoping someone here could enlighten me on which action is the best for a 300 prc build, im thinking of adding a big 30 to my collection for extended range plinking.

I wouldn't use either action, I'd spend a few hundred more and get a Origin LA and a magnum bolt face! If you ever want to sell the gun down the road with a 700 action you're going to get 700 prices, The origin action is also waaay better built!

The R27557 is the standard magnum action for 7MAG, 300 Win MAG and such. The other one is for the ultra mags.

Is the 300prc considered an ultra mag? Thats where I am confused on the difference

I have a defiance tenacity that I build a 6.5cm outta, it’s nasty, and I was thinking of getting one to do a 300prc, but the price of them jumped from 900 to 1600…. And so damn, for 1600 I’ll just spend a little more and buy a bat… but then damn there goes all my plans to build a budget 300prc hahaha, honestly I’ll prolly just get a custom action, but for the price of $550 I was throwing the idea around of building one from a rem700

Thanks! Did it have a CIP DBM? No issues feeding the 3.7” coal?

I used CIP bottom metal in mine. Feeds well with some tweaks to the mags

I put one together for a buddy with a std reamer and used Hawkins Hunter DBM. I believe it has a 3.7" max length. With 230 grain and under bullets, I can jam and still be under 3.7 OAL. 245s might make it a bit of a challenge but I havent tried them to know for sure.

The Remington magnum action in 300 RUM will work for 300 PRC except its 3.6" COAL will be a little a little short of 3.7 for the PRC ... but that can be remedied with different chasis, bottom metal, etc., depending on what you want. My Rem 700 will feed 4.020" cartridges out of the mag, but the action is milled, as well as the bolt stop..along with a modified mag & follower.
