Think twice about bringing your wife to a match...

Think twice about bringing your wife to a match. I figured I’d be nice and try to get her involved. So I loaded her some extra ammo and she shot my rifle 2nd relay at the Ct state IBS score match. Her results 3rd time shooting a rifle, not a match, a rifle...

Not to mention a perfect 250

So... you get to do more reloading.

Tysarnall I have been married for 44 years. My wife is a 4 time national champion archer. I used to shoot with her every afternoon. Then I discovered she would get home from work earlier than I and go shoot for 45 minutes or an hour and put her bow away. I would get home rest a few minutes and we would go shoot and about the 2 or 3 end she would exclaim "oh my bow/arrows needs work can you fix it/them?" She got to shoot all I ever got to do was fix bows and make arrows. After a few years I taught her to fletch her own arrows, she does some minor repairs and tuning but my shoulders are shot and I no longer can shoot so she looks else where. Letting your wife shoot a match may be good, it may ruin match shooting for you forever.

All joking aside, I’m very proud of her. I would be great to share this hobby. (She will get her own gun of course). She already helps reload, so that part is good.

Already learned from her. As a dude, I naturally try to shoot all by bulls and usually have 7 minutes left on the clock. After I showed her about picking wind conditions She just patiently sat there and waited and waited until her condition showed and kept shooting clean one target after the next.

Long ago, with a daughter in 4H shooting sports, she saved her allowance/chore money to buy a cell phone. She asked big brother to take her to the store to buy a phone. He Narc’d on her.
I explained how expensive a cell phone is, million dollars a minute. She would need to demonstrate how focused and responsible she needed to be to have such a phone. “How do I do that?” She says. Being the shooting coach, I say “shoot a perfect target!” This was Sunday.

Tuesday night, warm ups. Prone and kneeling. She is in my face with her kneeling target. This is warm ups mind you. My first thought was a scorer was in on this. I scored the target myself. 100, 7 x. Christ, I owe a 9 year old a cell phone.

Just dont let her know how much $$ you have in your equipment :rolleyes::rolleyes: you or her neither one might go back to another match....
Hate to tell ya, she probably already knows. As long as he don't show up in the driveway with a "hotrod" that costs five times as much, I think shootin' will be in the future for them both.

Tell her you will buy her a rifle instead.

I tried to get my wife to go, even just to spot for me. She laughed and said, that's your thing and I can get you outta my hair for a while.

You can't go back on that. Buy her a rifle AS WELL as her cell phone. It'll take a little extra work, but setting that example is a great message to kids.

Absolutely agree. Just get one that has no capability to connect to YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc....

My wife shot her first rifle match in May, and now she says she needs a better scope cause the 8.5x25 Leupold VX3 doesn't have enough power for 600 yards. I won lots of matches with that scope!

I guess my new March High Master 10x60 that came last week didnt set a very good example..

She has aged out of 4H now, but she has multiple rifles. Was hoping she would get a college scholarship in shootin* sports, but she is not quite that good.

After a 15 year shooting absence a friend gets me to try air pistol silhouette. One time I'm hooked. Buy a LP50 since the kids are gone.

Wife never a shooter. Finally get her to try air pistol silhouette. She likes it. Decide to get her own air pistol so we can shoot at the same time. Find a nice used Izzy for $450. I show her and she looks at it and looks at me and says "No, I want one like yours but in blue".

Now we have $5000 in air pistols with the red dots. :-O.

Pretty funny. But worth it. Get them in the same hobby. Than they can’t complain about what you spend on it
