There Goes Our No Tax on Suppressors

Well, I guess it was too good to be true. We are back to square one on removing suppressors from the tax stamp and registration category.

The Parliamentarian serves at the pleasure of the Senate Majority Leader (Thune).

He (Thune) said he would not overrule the Parliamentarians decision. I read that to mean he and the senate republicans do not want to change the rules on suppressors and are blaming her.

The Parliamentarian was following the Byrd rule. Reconciliation bills aren't suppose to include non budget items. The House should have known it, probably did and intended this outcome. Possibly to get a replacement for MacDonough ?

Perhaps more wishful thinking on my part, but since the fee on suppressors is called a tax, wouldn't that be part of the budget? Calling the "affordable care act" bill a tax is how the Supreme Court justified its existence. That and Justice Roberts. Taxes can be written into, or out of, the budget. Yes, she may be canned, but it's probably a little late to help us. Personally, I am not nor ever have been a fan of Thune. He is only a very slight improvement over the Turtle. I wish the Senate had made a better choice. There are those in there that would have had the intestinal fortitude to overrule the parlimentarian.

Once a tax is implemented, it is hard to reverse it at any level. When was the last time your property, fuel or income tax went down?? Taxes are a gravy train at all levels.

I don't mind paying my share, but when I don't see any ROI that irritates me.

To me it appears to be a tax, the stamp and registration is "proof" the item was "taxed" and there fore legal to possess. How congress worked around a little thing called the constitution. And part of the budget.
