Shoot the light gun, I’m betting there will be several doing the same.

Yes, I have won many HG Aggs with my LGs. But having a 22 lb rifle is an advantage over a 17 pounder. As it turns out I have an 8 lb stock coming and a 4 lb stock. The 4 lb stock with the 6 BRA HG barrel would come close to 22 lbs.

Thinking about this a bit, given this is a BR match, it might be more fair to make the BR guns have a 17lb limit and the F-Class guns 22. A BR gun stock is set up to track and allow fast shot strings with minimal to zero adjustments between shots. An F-Class stock isn't set up to track, but to be comfortable from prone. I am not sure how well an F-Class stock tracks on the bench or how often F-Class guys even shoot from the bench.

Would not surprise me at all if a 17lb gun won it all . It’s happened at almost every match this year the 17 lb guns are winning vs the 30 to 60 lb heavy guns.

F-open rifles with parallel bottom stocks track extremely well, either from a bench or prone, when bag alignment is proper. The real issue is torque associated with the .284-.30 cals and a 3” fore end. A 6 dasher/BRAI will track extremely well even with the 3” fore end.

F Class does not limit the height of stock to bag contact. A BR rifle can only have 1/2" of side contact, an open rifle can be 3" if you want. IF you take advantage of this I think you will find the open rules to be an advantage.

Modern Open rifles are build to track. I even put rudders in a lot of them, just like the LRB stocks. They are for the most part 22lb BR rifles. Many of the top guys even shoot free recoil. They are tuning them like BR rifles now too. Its really not much different.

Best bench heavy gun I have is an f-class rig @ 22#, that was the first of many competition rifles Alex has built for me. A Bat M on a Bowman stock, 284 or Dasher barrel. Tracks amazing, either with a SEB or Sinclair, sucker is loooong. 10 Dasher shots in 18 to 20 seconds on the bench no problem. But again anything that Alex builds shoots great I will support what the majority wants to shoot and will join in as soon as the details are worked out. Great Idea Tommy.

I have a very personal interest in shooting this range again. I simply didn’t perform well at Nationals this year and I had rifles that I feel were capable of winning. It’s an awesome range and Sara and Tom are incredible people. I was already making plans on driving the 14 hours for a one day match next spring just to shoot there again to prove something to myself.

A full week with both 1,000 and 600 yard aggregates sounds awesome. I’m so glad I came across this thread tonight.
