The price of our toys.

I just paid "the price" for 5000 CCI BR4 primers. I just got tired of looking for deals, wondering if prices were trending downward. Or worse, trending upward. Seems to be no rhyme or reason these days. But truly speaking, things ARE more expensive. Now I don't need to fuss over primers for a while. I will turn off my Ammoseek and Shootingbot alerts and just enjoy shooting and handloading. The new absence of distraction and obsession was worth the price.

That’s a good perspective.

I remember in 2006 all my contractor buddies all had big RVs, bass boats, lots of toys. In 2008 most of those toys were gone and those same RVs and Bass boats weren’t worth 50% or maybe even less of what they once were. I’m a contractor too and suffered my own losses in 07-09 but survived. It’s Like watching the same movie all over again as I watch what’s going on in my area again. Housing and development is slowing but still going strong. My office is near Gateway Airport in Mesa and every 6 month more commercial and industrial square footage goes up at an alarming rate, you don’t even recognize the place.. New Apartments and subdivisions are everywhere. Guns are high, used guns are going for more than I can ever remember but all that will change when we live through another 2007 era and if you think it’s not coming I’d wager your wrong. I learned a few lessons back in 07-09, the number one lesson was debt, I got caught with too much, now I don’t have any. I still spend more than I should at times but I should be able to survive when it all goes down the toilet.

That’s my long answer above. My short answer is those prices won’t last.
I have lived in Gilbert my whole life, 3rd generation from here. The whole vally area is messed up and sky high prices every where. I feel sorry for my kids on what they will have to pay for places.

Yes our toys are expensive, however ask any of our ex-drag racers here and and they may just smile at you. $50,000 and way up for some of the upper classes and rising. Just ask them what they spent per weekend per season and it may shock you, and then ask them what each weekend cost when they broke and tried to overnight every part they needed to just make the next race in whatever state that race was at that next weekend.

Yep I cry at our prices to, but it's better than racing was to most people. At least here it takes longer to work ourselves into the poor house.

If I think about my EX shooting isn't that expensive

I'm pretty sure that gun dealer must have a little crack or wacky weed in his morning coffee. The 722 are SELLING on GB for around $600 or less. There are higher priced ones but there not selling.
6/23– today i saw a guy paying for him and his wife at taco bell— 21.00–. mabie ill talk myself into those primers i “Need”

Over priced primers are a much better deal and last longer than junk food.
i agree about being a better deal but they dont last very long once i get them. i should start thinking about wat everything costs in primers. ex:::1.50 cookie at mcd costs me 15 primers-- o_O

LGS by me jacks the prices up on every thing from scopes, to ammo, even targets. Hard to support local when they do things like that. I want to give them my money but, they make it difficult.

I turned off all my "notify when in stock".

If this hobby is expensive, how expensive is it these days to own a bass boat, camper or sports car? I like hard commodities and will pay for them unlike spending $300-$1,000 for concert tickets.

Picked up an empty ammo box at the range the other day out of the trash can just to look. Glad I’m a well stocked hand loader.

Just before the insanity began, and pre-stupid pricing was still around, I'd cleaned out a couple of Academy Sports inventories of 140gr Hornady ELD-M cartridges @ $23/bx. And then it hit, roughly two years of pricing usually double that, often triple that.

It's been rare that I've bothered with boxed ammo since then. Nice, having a decent stash of reloading components.
