The Ole Warhorse is HOT!!

I got to fire 5 rounds this afternoon through my Ole Warhorse using some new Win brass that I turned the necks on this morning as I'm still checking out my pillar bedding job. This dude and load are working like a charm I must say. Load is 53.6 grs. H4350 behind a Berger 190 VLD target bullet w/Russian primers. I intended to shoot 10 rounds but there was some air to ground lightening in the area so when I saw that starting to pop I quit. These 5 rounds went into a group 1 1/2" vertical x 1 3/4" horizontal and I do have a BIG SMILE on my old kisser! I don't believe the 30/06 is quite dead yet! Maybe for the younger set but for one old guy....I'm still liking it! ;D :) ;)

What range r we shooting? I have a 30-06 old war horse myself. It is a 1903 A3 done up by Bobby Hart. Let me tell u she shoots 168 SMK lights out. Every time i take my 79 year old father to the range he puts at least 25 rounds out of her.

Great shooting! You trying to gain points with German? ;D

German and I are probably 'cut' from the same cloth....although my love for the '06 predates him just a tat I do believe! ;) :D Dad bought me my first 03A3 and I shot THOUSANDS of gas-checked cast bullets through it! That was in 1948. At age 10 white-tailed bucks starting falling victim to it and from there a love affair was born that has never faded! The Ole Warhorse is my first NRA Match Rifle I shot for a few matches before changing over to the .308 Win because of the short action and the sustained fire events required from 200 and 300 yards. The shorter bolt throw of the Rem 700 action helped beat the clock! I didn't put over 500 rounds through this rifle for years but it's come alive lately! The more things change...the more they remain the same!! :D ;)

Glad to see you open some eyes with your .30-06. What scope/reticle are you using?

NF 5.5x22x56MM NP-R1 and I have to say that it's the MOST CONSISTENT and RELIABLE that I've ever owned! Got two...and both totally dependable! I've owned, seen, used, and shot probably all the scopes available over a 65 year period and NF wins...hands down!!! ;) ;D

That's some great shooting. I really enjoy shooting my 06 every time I go out shooting with my buddies, they are impressed with its results. Did you Chrony the 190 gr loads using 53.6gr H4350? Just curious on speed.
