THE HEAD STAMP THREAD

For 30-06 the oldest I have is W R A C O 18
I think Winchester stopped using WRACO in the 30's

And one marked R at the top.. F at 6 o'clock... 3 at 9 ....and 84 at 3.....probably a 45-70 and I do not think it's brass as I know it maybe copper.
Never have found out for sure who the maker is and maybe the markings mean March 1884.....just a point of interest.

Frankford Arsenal ....for a rifle (not carbine)....March 1884 most likely

They're definitely brass.
But are they Berdan or Boxer primed. You can reload both styles ,but Berdan is a lot more work.

I was at the range shooting at the same time as someone with a 308 gas gun. Somehow I got one of his Berdan primed cases in my bag. That one cost me a decapping pin and assembly. Snapped it off clean and couldn't get it out. Had to call Forster for a replacement.

I really like Forster dies, but their decapping assembly and pin is very weak and fragile on their sizing dies. I always keep multiple extra pins on hand
