the dreaded 6.5 Creedmoore for F Class?

No reason someone can't win in F-Open MR with a Creed. It's no different than shooting 90 VLDs in a .223 in F-TR. I've been told many times that the .223 can't be *competitive* against .308s with heavy, high BC boolits. Fortunately, I paid little attention LOL.

200 yds? No way .... it was at 50 yards. Lol.. No it was a 600 yd midrange F open match. Bash it all you'd like but I'd be willing to bet this man purse, man bun, skinny jean, pink Creedmoor will out shoot what you got!

you did not say what the yardage was so this was a neat way to get your comments out

careful what you wish for was the last one cut for the Canadian FTR team for the worlds so I might just surprise you

Just burst some bubbles the California Long Range championships were just won last month by a 6.5 Creed shooting 140 Berger VLD's. Easy now on the CA jokes.. there were some damn fine shooters there.

I'm glad to see it. I've always pulled for the under dog!

My 30” 6.5 CM shoots 140 Hybrid at 2900 and 150 SMK at 2800. Running some drag curves with Labradar, the G7 looks to be .345 with the 150’s. That’s pretty stinking close to the 284 with the 180 hybrid wind drift, like 1/4 to 1/2 moa difference in a 10 mph wind at 1000.

The 140’s seem to shoot just a little tighter. I’m a sling shooter but I don’t see how I’m giving much up to the guys with a 284, and less recoil to boot.

I shot the 600 46X at the Malabar, FL Club match, using a 6.5 Creedmoor with a 140 gn Berger Hybrid. At 600 yards, I shoot many calibers (6 BR, 6.5x47, 284) and my conclusion is that the Creedmoor works the best for me at that distance. Basically, it is a 6.5 x 49. Those two extra mm enable you to shoot the 140 gn bullet at 2930 fps without compressing the load. The small primer enable the same great accuracy of the 6.5x47. The recoil is similar, given the 21 lb. rifle.

Do you find your other rifles collecting dust vs the 6.5CM, or do you pick the cartridge based on what the conditions might be during the match?

For years, all the guys shooting CMs on the line were poor shooters, but in the last year, some very skillful guys have shown up posting high scores and winning matches with the 6.5 CM. It's not the arrow; it's the Indian.

I still prefer a custom 260 Rem (throated long) in a long action shooting the highest BC 6.5 bullets. The extra capacity provides the option of using H4831 which often does a bit better than H4350 in a 30" barrel.

But the 6.5 CM isn't bad. A lot of the factory offerings are not the most accurate, and a lot of mediocre shooters bought them thinking it would make them into something that only comes with lots more practice and care than most of them have demonstrated.

Whats worse, the hype or the anti-hype? Both have gone to the same level. Im glad I dont keep up on that stuff.

Yes, it's got a bit like the Monty Python 'Four Yorkshiremen' comedy sketch where the competitive recollections about how hard their childhoods had been end up with the claim:

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah

I love that, huge Monty Python fan here. Me and my buddies have had this running gag gong on for 30 years. Absolute nonsense to drive to the range, or hunting , or anywhere with us.

Air ? we never had air when I was a child ...........
