The Creedmoor legend grows!

358WCF,

yeah buddy!! Short and Fat is only applicable in the case of the 6PPC!

I was up in Salmon (ID) visiting Elmer Keith back in the mid-seventies. His considered opinion: given any rifle and cartridge to hit a man sized target at 1000 yards with the fisrt shot, he wanted a Sharps rifle chambered in 50-90.
Mike Venturino hit a 36" square target at an even one mile with his second shot down at the Yuma Proving Grounds in front of a couple dozen members at the bi-annual forensic society with a Shiloh Sharps chambered for that same 50-90. I now own one, and I could have you ducking for cover with the first shot. You wouldn't likely be standing still there for my second.

ISS

Note: look at the three of them. Now you know why I shoot a 260 Remington...

I was going to get a CM when they were first introduced, until I learned you had to have a 40HR training course before you joined the club. Then you had the secret code word of the day and the secret handshake, and you had to attend a one a month meeting. Just to much for me. :D:D:D LDS
I thought I saw you sneak in the back door at the last meeting.......sorry couldnt help myself.......LOL

I know a fella who had an AR style bolt action built up in 6.5 Crapmoor. He just could not believe his eyes when we showed him why it stopped shooting accurately at a bit over 1000 rounds...4-5" of the barrel in front of the chamber had been so eroded that the bullet likely skid that much before engaging in what rifling there was left in the barrel.

And people criticize the 264 Win Mag!! In a rifle with any goodly amount of powder room the outcome tends to be the same. How fast you shoot it before cleaning and letting the barrel cool is a big part of the inherentness to burn barrels out.

When contouring a rifle barrel, chatter can be a problem. To get it to quit, I just put a Creedmoor cartridge on the carriage. This worked so well, I started trying it with other things. When the lawn mower wouldn't start, I just showed it the Creedmoor and it fired right up. When the dog wasn't responding, I hollered "Creedmoor", and she came running. I'm sure I've only scratched the surface. WH

Now that's funny right there!
