If you ever have one, you will learn quickly.
I’m confused on all this timing talk, it all looks normal to me
I am 2 for 2 on good rem 700 actions. For my edification.... would you care to give a brief explanation? Thx.
Garandman, there have been some actions that have been produced that the camming surfaces of the bolt and action do not jive. Therefor, you don't get that pre-extraction of the spent case and the brass can be rough to remove. That's a layman's explanation because I be one. I could imagine other problems it could cause as well.I am 2 for 2 on good rem 700 actions. For my edification.... would you care to give a brief explanation? Thx.
Because past threads here would lead you to believe buds sells a different remington 700It looks like poor quality from Remington why mention Buds Gun Shop

That one has been gone a month or more. Had to get a boyds for itAnd I thought you were showing us what is required of you to get this young'ns new shooter up to snuff.
Did you find a stock yet?
I had been shooting a 700 SA for a few years with intermittent hard to extract issues. Got much worse, bolt out of time. I was told by my smith it was an inherent issue with 700 bolts. Sent to Accu-Tig in Ankorage, Alaska. Noooo more problems at all!! Locks up tight, brass comes out like butta! Great work by a fine gentleman!
You are correct sir! Fairbanks! That he is. Told me he’s done over 12,000 of them.Actually Dan Armstrong is in Fairbanks. He is the "MAN" when it comes to the Remington for timing and extraction.
The worst part is that unless your pictures are reversed, they put the damn bolt on backwards
Dusty, what action is that? I can see the left hand bolt and cut bottom cut out in one pic. Would be interesting to hear what some of the other guys are getting when they order bare Rem actions. I ordered the solid bottom single shot and its not bad for the price, no complaints.
It has one on the side too!!
well, there's good intel, for a very simple mechanical action. thank you. bolt hits a ramp, leverage pulls the brass backwards. cam...The bolt handle is supposed to contact the angled extraction cam ramp on the receiver right before the bolt recoil lugs disengage from the receiver recoil abutments (the abutments also have an angled ramp on the edge). The bolt handle then rides up the receiver extraction cam as it is being lifted which gives mechanical assistance for the bolt to extract the fired case from the chamber. When the bolt is all the way up the case should be dislodged from the chamber and when cycled rearward there is no resistance.
Without the assistance from the extraction cam on bolt lift, the shooter has to pull hard to the rear on the bolt handle to get a fired case dislodged from the chamber.
