James, I saw many patients both pre and post aneurysm repair. Depending on which of the three types of aneurysm it is and the location, effective treatments that offer excellent outcomes are now the norm for even the most complex vascular aneurysm cases.

I sincerely appreciate the prayers that many given for me. I have been to three doctors since my first diagnosis. They have conducted many tests and have concluded that I did not require surgery (good news). The diameter of my aorta where the aneurysm is located is 4.2 cm (1.65 inches). The doctors say that this was caused by high blood pressure and that I would have to keep my blood pressure under control. I was told that I could resume normal activities but not lift heavy objects. Next Tuesday, I have an appointment to get the results of an echo cardiogram and at that time I will get more specific details about what I can and cannot do. Thanks to all for your concern.

I have completed a bunch of tests and I saw my cardiologist today and I have some good news. My aneurysm does not require surgery at this time and the Dr. said that I could resume "normal' activities, but he did not want me to lift heavy objects. He even said that I could continue to shoot as long as I did not shoot a rifle with heavy recoil. My heavy 6 BRA does not have heavy recoil, so I plan to try it in a 300 yard match this weekend. Some poet (maybe Robert Burns) wrote these words a long time ago. However, I think that they may apply to me. I wrote on this forum a while back that I was changing directions and returning to shooting the Dasher rather than the BRA. Well, my best laid plans may not come to fruition because of my health. Last week, I found myself in the emergency room with very high blood pressure. Upon examination, an aneurism was discovered in my aorta. I have seen my family doctor and he is getting me an appointment with a cardiac specialist and I will make plans according to his recommendations. I recently received my new barrel (7.83 twist Brux) freshly chambered by Billy Stevens in Dasher. I did shoot it enough to break in the barrel, but haven't tried it in competition yet. As stated I will follow the cardiologist's advice as to whether I should shoot or not. If I don't get to compete any longer, I have had a great time and made many friends and have had the chance to meet most of the Icons of Benchrest shooting. Thanks for the memories. James

After 4 months I still have not shot the new Dasher in competition. I bought 100 of the new Alpha Dasher brass and have fired 79 of those while breaking in the barrel and testing loads. The Alpha seems to be great brass, but it requires .2 to .4 less powder to get it on par with the Lapua brass. This is anecdotal but if this Corona stuff ever ends, I will find out. Perhaps, I should have quit shooting at the end of last season as I originally planned. Now with a new barrel, I guess that I will trudge on and see what I can do. Good shooting....James
