The Ace by wolf precision VS. Chris long OBT

I have some food for thought.
I’m sure you’ve all seen the Ace chamber design and I know everybody shoots the idea down due to the fact that your stacking tolerances and changing the entire industry by switching to a two piece chamber barrel design.
But!!!!! What if Chris longs theory of OBT is completely right. And the shock wave traveling down the barrel causing .001” of distortion could be gone. Chris mentions in his interview with Eric Cortina that the shockwave doesn’t transfer through a threaded portion of the barrel “muzzlebreak”.
Is it possible that if by threading the chamber separate from barrel you could eliminate that distortion frequency at the start? Wouldn't your rifle have infinite tune windows? Aside from the standard bending nodes which I’m sure are way more consistent and slower than the shockwave.
This has been rattling in my brain every since I saw that video and I’m just curious if anyone has done testing with a two piece chamber design? What are your thoughts?

Starting around 12:00 minutes into video is where he talks about this. Here’s a link to video and a screenshot of transcript.

Ya I suppose you’d be out of a job cutting chambers
Why would that be? Let’s say that the ace system was better, doesn’t someone still have to chamber those stubs?

I’m betting a reply at some point is going to tell me it’s a patented system and wolf will have to do it. My response is good luck chasing down all the independents that would build them themselves anyway.

Not only does someone have to chamber the stub, you still have to thread the barrel and cut the throat. So theres more work there, at least for the first time. Daryle from BAT machine has an ace on his lr br rig. Or at least he did last time I saw him there. He shot it at deep creek with us a few times. Im very familiar with the system. You still have nodes.

Thats a better question for Daryle. It didnt seem to improve anything imo. BAT makes those chambers for ace, or at least they did. The idea behind the ace system is the fact that your just cutting a throat in the end of the barrel. So its easier to get it concentric than if its 2" down the barrel like in a standard chamber. Also your never change out the chamber so your brass never changes. In my opinion, it may be a decent idea for large manufacturers. But good gunsmiths dont have trouble cutting chambers with concentric throats that have chamber bodies on size.

Ya it’s patented and I don’t care about the wolf system but just the idea that if it was put in the hands of a competent BR shooter would it prove to be less sensitive to tune.

Thank you for taking time to explain this.

Reminds me of something that was going to change the world but never got any traction….

Structured barrels.

Yeah, I wondered about what happened to them awhile back. I just looked and see they are still in business. Who's buying them?

I would have really liked to see what we could have done in br with that etronx system. As much as the ignition plays a roll in poor accuracy, eliminating it all together sounds good to me. And the bolts would run so nice without a spring in them. And 0.1 oz. triggers would be a thing. Too bad it didnt catch on.

According to Long energy does move longitudinally along the barrel length at the speed of sound, resulting in a harmonic that shows up on the target. But not because of muzzle diameter changes. It causes a transverse vertical vibration at the muzzle, ie up and down; I have measured it!
