The 23rd "I just bought a Teslong and you won't believe what I saw" thread

Just say Moe,

When you see the lands NOT stopping at the same point it means the chamber, and the bore just past the neck (throat area) are NOT aligned... Or you had some really screwy chatter that started a LONG way back and wasn’t corrected (5R’s get that a lot)

I’ve seen many factory barrels like that with some lands (throat area) reaching back to nearly the neck, and on the opposite side of the barrel they stop much further down the bore.

If you use the Gritters method (and do it well) which aligns to the bore as it leaves the neck, you get a really nice symmetric set of land cuts that all stop in the same place.

Here is a R700 308 Varmint I traded for. UGLY.View attachment 1197617 View attachment 1197617
wow,,,I have had several Remingtons that look like that (only not as bad),,but they shoot great !!!!...I have had .243's since the 60's in various configurations (Rem 700's-stock and custom bbls) and shot them a LOT ,,,I have one Rem. 700 Tupperwar stock hunting profile bbl that looks similar to yours and has that chatter all the way down the bbl and gets worse towards the muzzle,,,BUT it shoots great ,,I have did well at many groundhog/egg shooting matches with it,,,with 68gr benchrest bullets it will shoot .3xx groups with regularity ,,,so as is being said here use your borescope to verify your cleaning routine and how your bbl wear is progressing ,,,I have a 8 twist Kreiger bbl that was a BR for 3500 rounds and the rechamberd to .243 and then 1000+ more rounds ,,,there is very little rifleing left in the bore for at least 6-7 inches out from the chamber and it finally gave up the ghost ,,,I use WS-2 on all my bullets and believe it is the secret to extending bbl life,,,I have several bbls that confirm my findings,,,,and OBTW,,,I have been told by folks that should know that those terrible bbl gouges are caused by a bbl broach that chatters while being pulled thru the bll during manufracture,,,Roger

What I want to know is how are you guys getting such good pictures? My Teslong images have no where near the contrast, resolution and detail. Mine are very washed out, too much light I think.

Screen resolution is important. You might want to pair it with a decent laptop or Chromebook for bench use. My Samsung phone gives excellent images, but my Chromebook lets me see details better simply because of the display size. Try adjusting the light intensity by using the little "roller" switch on the Teslong.

Ouch. Hard to believe. How does the rifle shoot?
I traded for it as a donor action and the laminate stock. I did run the 155 Palmas through it and surprisingly it held about 1 1/4" at 100yds and went 5 for 5 steel chickens at 300, go figure. I was told it was very well used.

If you post your pictures it will be easier to know how to respond. The focus on mine is not intuitive at all as I must rotate what looks like a knurled ring to attach the cable base to the body but is in fact the focus control. Too much light will also cause problems. The app you are using to drive the camera may be the problem as some are just not up to the task, I use MScopes on my Android phone, it's free and you must start the app before attaching the camera to the phone. Then there is the issue of scope shaft diameter to bore diameter and how to keep the scope shaft at the same distance to the bore so that it stays in focus. Last but not least is make sure the tiny mirror at the end of the shaft is clean. Tiny pieces of dust will cause large fuzzy spots on your pictures. Hope this helps.

These are the same rifles you were so proud of before you owned a tesalong. Why if you couldn't take the truth did you look? Remington nor Savage send any rifles down the line with Kreiger's or Bartleins on them they all get the same factory junk we all get.

I can take the truth. They all still shoot well despite the warts. Just observations.
