The 22xc Thread

I have a 22xc i built with a 24" barrel. After doing some load testing with h4350 and h4831sc. I settled on 40.5 gr of h4350 88 gr eldm @ 3330 fps out of it.

I built some parts to make a short truck rifle. That Same exact load runs 3070 fps in the 16" barrel

Man that is moving out!! Nice!!

Let see pics of the 16”
It's not done yet, I'll have the correct handguard in a couple of days. I machined and adapter to use an ar15 handguard on a desert tech. Then decided I should use a different handguard. Bought a cheap ar stoner handguard from midway to start the project and see how the parts lined up. But it was pretty simple and a good fit so I ordered a Midwest ind suppressor series handguard, larger inside to allow the suppressor inside, and its a simple half hour job on a manual lathe to make another different adapter for a lot nicer finished package. Gimme a few days and I'll put a few pics up when its done.

But heres a desert tech srs a1 I just did a 16" 22xc barrel on. All done, its 29" long, shorter than a conventional rifle stock. I just wasn't going to waste time coating this handguard after machined when. I got a better plan in progress.

That is crazy short!!

Maybe back off .005" on the jam. Hopefully won't erode accuracy but lower the initial pressure spike?
Ackleyman ll and l collaborated on a long necked (abt .400") 6XC w phenomenal steaming accuracy, exceptional lack of throat erosion and stellar brass life. I'm thinking that a smaller bore would benefit as well from extra neck length. Ask him. He has the #s in his head on near instant recall

And Tubb has brass in both primer sizes for $70.
I had you spin me up a 22GT barrel a few months ago and she’s a shooter. I literally tossed it on an old junk 722 action, broke a scope bolt off in the action, then gauld the hell out of the barrel threads getting it all apart….I was bummed because I knew it was all gonna be out of line, but I put it all back together and I got lucky because it’ll shoot .6XX’s all day. I can only imagine what it would do with a properly squared action. I’ll check Tubb out, thanks!!

That 22gt is pretty darn good.

After looking at the 22xc. I think it a horse a piece between the 22 Creedmoor, 220 Swift and 22-250 AI. I was thinking about the 22xc as I have a 1 - 14 twist in hand right now. Now I like Hotrods and have two of the 22-6MM AI . I have decided to go with the 220 Swift AI. It will shoot the 50 gr Blitzking over 4000 fps. I have a 22 Creedmoor in a 7.5 twist and it shoots the Berger 88.5 gr in one hole all day long. But the 50 gr Blitzking are just to light for the twist.

Has anyone tried a 22xc in a 14 twist shooting 50 or 60 gr bullets and what were you getting for speed.

Thanks!!! Man, that looks great!!

So, the 22xc has really been flexing it's muscle. I can honestly say that every barrel has performed. It really is the best of the 22 hotrods.
I wouldn't say the 22xc is the best of the 22 hotrods.
The 22-6MM AI, 22-243, 220 Swift, 220 Swift AI, 22-250 AI , 22 Creedmoor , 22-284, are all faster . And them are some hotrods.
