I have shot the Hornady 62grn ELD-VT bullets out of a 22 Dasher rifle at 3700fps (IMR8208XBR) with no pressure signs however, they seem to group much better under 3500fps. I would always get fliers over 3500fps with two different 22 Dasher rifles with 8 twist barrels(Shilen & Krieger). What is the limit of the 62s ? I’m about to start playing with em

Sweet, I’m hoping to have my rifle put together next week as a suppressed, night time coyote smacker Just need dies and the pillsI have shot the Hornady 62grn ELD-VT bullets out of a 22 Dasher rifles at 3700fps (IMR8208XBR) with no pressure signs however, they seem to group much better under 3500fps. I have shot one coyote(dead before it hit the ground) and a couple of groundhogs(lots of airtime) with this bullet. So far, it seems to be a step up from the 53grn V-Max bullets that have been my 22 cal. go to bullet.
Yes sir... I read your posts on the 62grn ELD-VT and their speed limit for good groups. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I wanted to see how these bullet preform on groundhogs 300 to 800yds in my 22 Dasher and 22BR rifles. I have a couple of groundhog day trips lined up in June to field test the 62grn ELD-VT bullets, aka "stretch my barrels". Where I live 200 yard shot is a long shot. I have been shooting the 53grn V-Max bullets and been really happy with their performance out to 500yds and 75grn A-Max bullet on farther distances however, I do worry that the 75 A-Max bullets not opening up at the extended distances. Hopefully the 62grn ELD-VT is my "Do-All" varmint bullet. That's what I have been saying too.

Bradley, I will day it again... Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
If 3500 is the limit for good consistent accuracy with the 62gr ELD-VT, then it seems like the BR/ARC cartridges would be able to get you there, or at least get you close enough. I would expect a little better out of a bigger cartridge.
It would be interesting to shoot the 62gr ELD-VT and 75gr ELDM both out of the same rifle, over the same field, on the same trip and see how they compare at some reasonable distances of say 500-600yards or so.
Keep us posted. If you're able to run that 62gr faster and keep it accurate, that would be awesome. If not, then the heavier bullets at the same or higher speeds are going to win out.
Definitely looking forward to hearing about the "splodyness" of the heavier bullets tooTossing a +15lb groundhog in the air is an impressive feet regardless of distance (not that 300 yds is "close"). Watching the slow mo on full screen, looks like it hit him just below the neck (center mass). Very impressive performance!
For Me, It's now going to Be, a "Toss Up" between, the .22 XC and,.. the .22 GT !
For the replacement Barrel of, my .22-250 Rem. in a Short Action, Rem 700
Want to Shoot Only, the 50 & 53 grain, V-Maxes and 52, 55 gr Berger Flat based, Var / Tar'gt, Bullets and maybe a few, 55 grain, GK's / Blitz Kings ( For Yotes ) So, 12 Twist, .050 Free Bore for, the Splodies on S. Rats / PD's !

Thought's ?
Okay,. Thank You !Already tested the 22gt 12 twist. 53 vmax was 3800 plus. Shoots very well.

What length barrel are you running to get 3600fps with the 80’s?I forgot about the 80 eld-x. I'm getting some of these. Um. That's a groundhog and it flipped. That's nuts.
