That don't happen every day!

Was out last night at one of my favorite haunts giving the 788, wearing a 24" PacNor 8tw tube chambered in 6X47L,some time afield. The Berger 88's at 3192 fps MV were performing well and already had two taking the "dirt nap" at 202 and 186 yards. Next up is one at 302 and the shot looked good however the recoil took me off target. It wasn't but a couple of minutes later a Kit Fox runs from the woodland 50 yards to the south and starts eating! Confirmation of the shot! Out comes another and tries to join the first but it wasn't gonna have that and a fight insued. The original claimant won and continued eating. After 1/2 hour it appeared that it was full and it walked back the the woods. Out comes the challenger and immediately gets chased down and another fight takes place. The winner and obviously the original claimant resumed eating and this time finished it as no remains were found. I have seen triplets here prior and placed one of my kills in the woods for them previously. I collected the remaining 3 from my 4 for the night and threw them in the woods also so nobody went hungry that night!
Got a picture of a good "Snert" for you Parker and 57 for the season.image.jpeg

Nice, just doing your part to help feed the wildlife. How do those Berger 88's expand? How do they compare to the 87 vmax?

The jury is still out! I've had some bad experiences in the past at ranges exceeding 500 yds. with them however they were not well placed shots, i.e. gut shots. These shots may have been anchored with the V-Max but there is no way of knowing for sure. If the tube would shoot them I most likely would be using them or the A-Max but no such luck. It absolutely hammers the Berger so I am now just more particular with shot placement, anything north of the diaphragm.

He is giving us the evil eye! o_O

Nice shooting.

Buzzards here are feasting. However, something else hits my fields at night. I lost my glasses and had to re-walk a bunch of holes. Left dead ones for the birds night before, but by noone, not even a grease spot left. Something carries them away and eats well.
Just doing my part here too!

Great story and photos

Same here with the 87's, would love to shoot them for the damage they do, just can't get them to shoot that well. I've been using the 80gr. Ballistic tips and they shoot pretty well and the damage is good but not quite like the 87's. Those 88's did well on that ones head.

Good to know MrMajestic. Been thinking about trying them for a while now. Those 87 vmax shoot well out of my 12tw Br, but the 80gr Berger varmint shoots even better. Great expansion also, just not a great BC.

6 more last night using the 5X45AI using 39 grain BlitzKings and 55 grain Bergers. Kinda nice that they can be substituted, with the BlitzKings printing 1" higher at 200 yards. Got another "Snert" too! 63 now!
