I'm all for people being able to have firearms and potentially protect themselves.
But in an emergency like this, gun stores certainly can be shut down. I'm sure they will be even in Texas, and across America before this is over.
Keep in mind that we never really had any gun 'rights'. This, demonstrated by thousands of gun laws, some of which removing legal gun ownership -for millions of Americans.
There is no right to buy guns,, nor anybody giving us guns to fulfill a right.
We don't have any real food or housing rights either. As this emergency is reminding some.
This is nothing new.
We've lived in a balance, and so far (only luckily) extremes landings on scale(either side) have just fallen off, never sticking.
But look at how crazy Crazytown is getting!
I live in North Carolina. We have a bubba system for handgun permits that go through local Sheriffs offices(for non-CCPs). At least one Sheriff has just declared that he can no longer process any more requests. This, appearing as an emergency in itself, as permit requests have just spiked 1,000%..
So now many people who would never have a gun, some against them, are in panic mode.
Of course hoarders with CCPs are buying up like it's Red Communist Chinageddon.
I wish I had a way to influence CCPs to purchase guns -for the vulnerable who can't.
Personally, I have around 30 handguns, and actually use only a few. I've been offering tailgate sales (at cost) to those I'm concerned about with this crisis. Also loaning some away, as some folks are still not committed to buy and always have.
Anyway, It does no good to hang yer hats on legal opinions, even that of the Supreme Court, as these entities do not make laws.
Laws apply, AND authorities apply (in an emergency), not opinions.
