Texas or Wyoming?

Look at Thermopolis for a more affordable area. I liked it but it’s a smaller town. Did have a decent grocery store , restaurants , and a medical center ( small but there ) . Basically everything to the north and east of Thermopolis is BLM to hunt , shoot , and hike on. The Bighorn River is a world famous trout fishery in the Thermopolis area.

In Wy you live off of the grid unless your in the city. Plan on doing a lot of driving just for groceries and the basics. When you're out of the city you're on your own.
Just order from Amazon, they'll drop the groceries on your porch from a carbon-free drone.

I traveled all over Wyoming and Montana back in the 1980s while I was living in CO . I don't know about the politics of it these days, but I know it is beautiful country . Nice steady breeze you can count on.

Baggs Wyo. is good place to move to. Lot of blm land and close to mountains. Best thing is that you don’t live in Colofornia. Don’t have to put up with our fn democrats.

Take a look at Pinedale and surrounding areas. Close to some fabulous fishing. I can still remember those football sized browns from Soda Lake.

Ok! I looked at Pinedale and added it to the list! That lake is nice. I could take my boat out there!;)

i've been looking at properties to move to from Colorado. Wyoming is, on paper, the best choice. But, I cannot find anything in Wyoming that fits my needs and my budget. But, I have found several places in Idaho that look great, for better prices than I have found in Wyoming.
I am going to Idaho later this week with the intent of finding a new home.

Idaho and Montana have state income taxes, but compared to Colorado the overall tax burden is the same or less. Wyoming is less than either of those.

North arkansas is still open. All these issues i read about on this thread do not apply. Theres not even a store in the state that has ever sold a snowblower. Beautiful mountains, plenty of wildlife and the only river thats a national park.

Idaho is a relatively less expensive state to live in. Winter lasts a long time at 5500'. stunning country, and wild.

Dusty , an 0ld Hunting buddy of mine would agree with you . He was originally a Gunsmith in Michigan for over 25 years and lived all over the US . Late in life he had a sweet job in Little Rock working as a Security Guard . Do to unfortunate circumstances he had to move back to the North East . His life was centered around Hunting and Fishing and he said with those objectives in mind , Arkansas was tops !

Well I'm sure glad to hear that. I might have to move out that way in a couple years. I know from the river the scenery is beautifull from Little Rock to Fort Smith. My brother lived in Flippin, the law don't come around unless you call them.

The law isnt really necessary except to flag traffic if a cow gets out or the red light goes out
